Dear Participants,

Please read the WHOLE document carefully!

To all those who sent us the application forms, to all those with whom we interacted, thank you! It’s

been a great learning experience for us. Congratulations to all of you and a very warm welcome to

the NIRMAN Samudaay! Your NIRMAN educational journey has already started with the application

form and the interaction we had (and with the assignments you did!). To continue this journey ahead,

we are inviting following people (the list starts from the fourth page) for the NIRMAN 10th batch series

of workshops at SEARCH, Gadchiroli. The people in this group are invited by taking into consideration

their background, interests, aptitude, activities done so far, their future plans and corresponding

learning needs.

NIRMAN 10 batch is special in many ways. The selection process has been an arduous but enjoyable

endeavor! With your batch, the NIRMAN community has now grown beyond 1500 individuals!

Congratulations to all of us for achieving this milestone!

The entire NIRMAN 10 batch is divided into 3 sections namely A, B and C. The first workshops of the

NIRMAN 10 batch i.e. NIRMAN 10.1 are scheduled as:

NIRMAN 10.1 A - 27th December 2019 to 4th January 2020

NIRMAN 10.1 B - 8th February 2020 to 16th February 2020

NIRMAN 10.1 C - 29th February 2020 to 7th March 2020

The residential workshops will be held on our campus “Shodhgram” at SEARCH, Gadchiroli.

The allotment of candidates in these three sections is based on our assessment of the inclinations,

priorities and corresponding learning needs of the individuals, and thus will consist of specific inputs to

orient them to the ocean of possibilities and opportunities of social contribution and of becoming a

social change agent. Thus, plan your schedule well in advance such that you can attend the workshop

as part of your designated section. Kindly refrain from contacting us with any requests regarding

change in the sections, unless it’s for something out of your control, for e.g. a clash with academic

exams / professional commitments during exactly the same period.

IMPORTANT: The current selection is only for these first training workshops in the NIRMAN

Educational Process. Depending on your presence, the nature and quality of your participation

and your further learning needs, the decision about inviting you to the next training workshops

in the series will be taken, and that will be solely at the discretion of the NIRMAN Team.

We do expect that now onwards you stay in touch with us pro-actively, visit us in Shodhgram, SEARCH,

Gadchiroli for NIRMAN 10.1 training workshops as well as take part in the various service/research

efforts, keep reading relevant material and be socially active in your local situations. Please ask us for

advice if necessary, but understand that your NIRMAN journey has already begun now and the onus lies

on you to participate to the fullest extent.

We wish to inform everyone that some part of the conversation in NIRMAN training workshops does

happen in Marathi, however, Hindi & English are also used frequently. Our prior experience is that

people outside of Maharashtra who are not completely well versed with Marathi can still understand the

crux of it and are able to extract relevant learning. Their other NIRMAN batch mates also help them in

this process. We just want you to know about this and if possible, take some brief lessons about

Marathi before reaching here. That would only increase the beauty and fun in the process not to

mention that you will still learn a lot anyway.

We are planning a new experiment this year. During the selection process, we came across certain

individuals who are interested in the NIRMAN process, but based on their interests, priorities and

inclinations, we felt that the usual NIRMAN process may not be the most appropriate intervention for

them. Since NIRMAN treats every individual uniquely and believes in personalization, based on our

assessment of the learning needs of this particular group, we are planning to conduct a separate

workshop/activity for them. As of now we are naming this group “NIRMAN 10X” and we will soon

communicate further details about it to these participants (listed at the end of this document).

We also wish to take this opportunity to thank our NIRMAN alumni and the team of interviewers who

took an active part in this entire selection process, right from the information spread to the logistics of

arranging the interviews, to providing useful feedback as and when needed. Thank you! We couldn’t

have completed this mammoth operation without your help.

Everybody who has taken part in the NIRMAN selection process, please continue to contribute to your

local community and strengthen your association with NIRMAN. The applicants, whose names are not

here in this particular list, can get back to us when the next batch is due to start. All of you can certainly

take part in allied initiatives of SEARCH, NIRMAN and NIRMAN alumni which offer rich action-based

learning opportunities. And irrespective, continue to nurture sensitivity towards social issues and

contribute as best as you can.

Details of the first NIRMAN workshop in this series are as follows:

Notes and Instructions / टीप व सूचना:

1. Please bring your personal accessories (toiletries, clothes, etc.). Carry appropriate and

enough clothes considering the winter time. Bedding will be provided. Carry your

own notepad, notebook, pen, pencil, etc. for taking notes of the sessions.

2. You will receive some articles on your email as homework. Kindly finish reading them

before coming to the workshop. There will be discussions around them in some of the

sessions in the workshop.

3. Workshop fees (INR 2400) can be submitted through cheque or demand draft (DD) or

Internet Banking on or before 30th November, 2019.

5. In case of delays in the payment of the fees beyond 30th November, 2019, the fees

would be Rs. 3000.

(Please understand that this is to ensure timely completion of the registration formalities

and NOT to make monetary gains. NIRMAN workshops are anyway offered at an

extremely subsidized cost for the participants.)

7. NIRMAN participants usually organize a cultural program on the last night of the

workshop. Keeping this in mind, carry the necessary stuff with you (musical instruments,

drapery, etc.) that you may need for the cultural night.

ननमााण शशबबराच्या शेवटच्या रात्री सवा शशबबराथी शमळून साांस्कृनतक कायाक्रमाचे आयोजन करतात. यासाठी तुम्हाला आवश्यक अशी काही सामुग्री (musical instruments, drapery, etc.) असल्यास, ती येताांना अवश्य सोबत आणावी.

8. Gadchiroli is 180 km away from Nagpur and it takes around 4 hours of bus journey.

There are state transport buses available every half an hour from Nagpur bus stand.

Nearest railway station is Chandrapur (while coming from the South), and it takes a 2

hours bus journey from there to reach Gadchiroli. ‘Shodhgram’ is situated at 17 km from

Gadchiroli on Dhanora road. There are buses/ private vehicles from Gadchiroli to reach

‘Shodhgram’. Gadchiroli city has no issues with mobile networks. However, in

Shodhgram, only BSNL network has coverage. Though you are not supposed to be

doing an active use of cell phones during the workshop, you may use BSNL SIM card for

communicating with your parents or for other important calls.

गडर्चरोली हे नागपूर पासून 180 कक.मी. अांतरावर असून बस प्रवासास 4 तास लागतात. दर अध्याा तासाने नागपूरहून एस. टी. बसेसची सुववधा आहे. ‘शोधग्राम’ हे धानोरा रोडवर गडर्चरोली पासून 17 कक.मी. अांतरावर आहे. शोधग्रामला पोहोचण्यासाठी गडर्चरोलीहून बसेस व खाजगी वाहने उपलब्ध आहेत. गडर्चरोलीमध्ये सवा प्रकारच्या मोबाईल नेटवतसाना रेंज असते. शोधग्राममध्ये मात्र फतत बी.एस.एन.एल.चेच नेटवका काम करतां. शशबबरादरम्यान मोबाईल्सचा फारसा उपयोग करणे अपके्षक्षत नाही, परांतु आपल्या घरच्याांशी बोलण्याकररता तुम्ही बी.एस.एन.एल. काडाचा उपयोग करू शकता.
