Holy Scripture Matthew 5:2-3, 7:7–12 7“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! 12“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. P This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to You, O Christ.

    Children’s Message

Our Sin and God’s Forgiveness (We give all our sins and failures to God. He forgives us fully and freely through Jesus Christ.)

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:8-9

How great, how great is our God.

Age to age He stands, and time is in His hands, Beginning and the end, beginning and the end. The Godhead, three in one: Father, Spirit, Son, The Lion and the Lamb, Lion and the Lamb.

Apostles' Creed C I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell.

The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church,

the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life T everlasting. Amen.

Sermon [Pastor's sermon is available for listening later this week at ZionLutheranNH.org under Sermon Audio]

Bringing Our Offering Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2

    Corinthians 9:6-7

Please send a representative from your family up with your completed yellow information sheet and any offerings as an act of worship in response to Christ’s abundant kindness toward us.

Prayers of the People L Our Good Father cares about us such that He sent His Son, Jesus, to give

His life for us. Since He has so made His kindness known to us, we bring our prayers to Him, asking with confidence that He knows better than we how to work for our good:

L That our Father would guard Jesus’ Church by His Spirit, strengthen her

witness before all nations, and bless those now considering and preparing to serve and to lead among us, let us pray to the Lord:

C Lord, have mercy. L That our Father would train us to depend upon His grace in all things,

especially as we pray for healing and for strength for Joe, for Clif, for Erinn,

for Nick, for Conni, for Elliott, for Pat, for Doug, for Carol, and for those named in each of our hearts, let us pray to the Lord:

C Lord, have mercy. L That our Father would give us eyes to see with grateful hearts His mercies

new every morning so that we may share what we have received with those in need and generously support the mission of His Son’s Church, let us pray to the Lord:

  • 6

C Lord, have mercy. L That our Father would swiftly bring that great and final day when all

divisions will end and the Church in heaven and earth will be one in His presence, singing His praise under His gracious reign without end, let us pray to the Lord:

C Lord, have mercy. L Father, we ask You to grant us all things needful and to keep from us all

things harmful to us and to our salvation, for we trust Your wisdom and Your love. Teach us to ask without fear, knowing that you give what is good; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

    C Amen.

Lord's Prayer Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

    The Lord’s Blessing

    2. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and glory to the King Forever You are robed with majesty. We come to You, O Lord, and lay our praise at Your feet. Chorus

“LIFE QUOTES” from Lutherans For Life - “If God does not remember your forgiven sin, then why should you? Paul knew that when a penitent person confesses [his or her] guilt to God and seeks pardon through the merit of Christ the Savior, God forgives the sinner completely, absolutely, and without reservation.” Rev. Dr. Armin Oldsen, former speaker of “The Lutheran Hour” STEWARDSHIP - Matthew 14:17-18 – “They said to him, ‘We have only five loaves here and two fish.’ And he said, ‘Bring them here to me.’ ” When the disciples held on to the five loaves and two fish, that’s exactly what they had. But when they handed them over to the Lord, the multitudes were fed. Apart from Jesus all we do and all we have is nothing. But, in Jesus, all we do and have is blessed to be used by the Lord for His gracious work. FOR YOUR SAFETY - If you are here in the evening for an event, please keep the doors locked while you are in the building. We have had someone enter the buildings and cause problems while rehearsals have taken place. It may help to keep the gate closed as well once everyone has arrived. ZION’S FOOD CLOSET –If you’ve already purchased food to donate, please bring it to the church office any time. After receiving several large donations, our food closet is now restocked. Thank you for your generosity.
