Maki, of Maki Kurarata Acupuncture, received her Diploma and Master’s Degree in Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture, Watertown, MA, and has several certificates and diplomas in her specialty of Japanese acupuncture and holds an acupuncturist license in Pennsylvania. Acupuncture is used for a wide variety of ailments including conditions labeled as: digestive, emotional, eye-ear-nose-throat, gynecological, musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, addiction control, athletic performance, blood pressure, regulation, chronic fatigue, and others.

Leslie Alexander, PhD, RH (AHG) is owner of Restoration Herbs in Erie, PA, where she has a clinical practice and works as a community herbalist. She received her B.Sc. from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Environmental Sciences and her Ph.D. from Heriot Watt University for her work with intertidal seaweed. For several years she lived and worked in England and Scotland as a research scientist, focusing her work on environmental factors affecting children’s health. Drawn increasingly to more natural ways of healing, she retrained as a Medical Herbalist, returned to the States in 2005 and landed in Erie in 2015. Leslie has been a practicing herbalist for quite some time and in 2009 was invited to join the American Herbalists Guild as a professional registered herbalist. She has been serving on the AHG governing council since 2013. In 2014, her first book, Dental Herbalism: Natural Therapies for the Mouth, was published by Healing Arts Press. Currently she divides her time between clinical practice, and her work as an educator, working with students and professionals, offering lectures and workshop opportunities for continuing education. Additionally, she offers individual holistic health and wellness consultations. She is the co-founder of Erie’s own Wholly Happy Festival, an annual event that brings together local holistic practitioners and features wellness options available in our community.
