1,7'$ŖV�LPSOHPHQWDWLRQ�RI�WKH�1'35�KDV�EHHQ�LQIOXHQFHG�E\�WKH�RYHUDOO�SROLF\�REMHFWLYH�RI�WKH�1'(36��(YHU\�UHJXODWLRQ�LVVXHG�PXVW�JR�EH\RQG�PHUH�SURVFULSWLRQ�RU�SUHVFULSWLRQ�RI�DFWLRQV�WR�XQOHDVKLQJ�WKH�WUHPHQGRXV�SRVVLELOLWLHV�LQQDWH�LQ�HYHU\�1LJHULDQ��7KH�1'35�as a subsidiary legislation was innovatively crafted to match all the foundational principles of data protection from the Convention 108+, the Malabo Convention on Cybersecurity and 'DWD�3URWHFWLRQ�WR�WKH�*HQHUDO�'DWD�3URWHFWLRQ�5HJXODWLRQ��*'35���+RZHYHU��WKH�UHJXODWLRQ�further creates huge economic possibilities for professionals, while improving the ease of GRLQJ�EXVLQHVV�LQ�1LJHULD�
7KLV�1'35�3HUIRUPDQFH�5HSRUW�� EHLQJ� WKH� ILUVW� RI� LWV� NLQG� LV� DLPHG� DW�KLJKOLJKWLQJ� NH\�LQLWLDWLYHV��VXFFHVVHV�DQG�FKDOOHQJHV�RI�LPSOHPHQWLQJ�WKH�5HJXODWLRQ��7KH�1'35�EHLQJ�D�flagship of the NDEPS, is expected to be used as a learning curve for Nigeria and Africa on how to effectively implement global laws with due consideration of local peculiarities and RSSRUWXQLWLHV�

GDWD�W\SHV�ZRXOG�FRQWLQXH�WR�VXUJH��5HJXODWLQJ�WKH�XVH�RI�SHUVRQDO�data became critical for a number of reasons which include the prevalence of transactional internet, that has brought about ris-ing violations of privacy rights by digital companies; the need for Nigerian businesses to show compliance with international data SURWHFWLRQ�ODZV��DPRQJ�RWKHUV�
