A quite Divided Market Share, with a Clear Dominating Brand

As you can see in this chart, Epson is the preferred printhead brand as to wide-format textile printers, being the DX5 the definite dominator among all other brands and models. The rest of the market share is divided in almost similar proportions among other printhead brands.

58%

Epson printheads have almost two thirds of the textile printers market share. Epson heads tend to be used in entry-level printers, but also in mid-range printers from Mimaki. But in recent years Mimaki has been switching to Ricoh heads. In the coming years, once Mutoh and Roland realize that Epson wants their market share in eco-solvent printers, and once these companies realize that Epson will launch their own textile and latex-like printers, Mutoh and Roland will also finally wake up to comprehend that their purchase of Epson printheads is actually funding Epson’s moves into eco-solvent and textile and eventually into latex printers. Kyocera printheads tend to be used on high end printers. Spectra printheads tend to be used on mid-range and grand format textile printers. Konica Minolta of course promotes its own printheads on printers (built by other companies, Konica  Minolta is a printhead and to some degree an ink-related company, but does not normally actually build the printers branded with its name).
