We invite you to join us for our Asian OTC Conference, held in the spectacular city of Singapore. This meeting focuses on preparing you for the future of consumer healthcare in

Asian markets. OTC sales in Asia-Pacific are expected to increase by US$29bn in the next decade, easily making it the top region with potential total sales of US$70bn.

Experts from across the industry will discuss how to navigate the long and winding path to success and professionals in self-care will analyse the hot topics affecting the region, including online OTC retailing, CHC mega-deals and the potential for the sexual health and other new categories in this booming market.

Indochina and its high-growth potential, as well as China’s cemented powerhouse status, will be the focus of just two of the many presentations we have in store, with the pricing and regulation reforms in China receiving extra attention. South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand will also be featured.

Above all, we will be searching for insights into Innovation and how it can drive brand growth in the region. Innovation in consumer healthcare lags well behind what has been achieved in North America, Europe and Australasia. This conference will put Innovation where it belongs, back at the centre of the consumer healthcare industry. If consumer demand is the heart of the industry, then Innovation is its heartbeat, and this conference will take and hopefully raise the industry’s pulse.

We expect around 100 delegates at this meeting, all of whom are important players and decision-makers in the industry. Not only will this conference be informative and cover real-time topics, but it is also a fantastic networking opportunity. Join us to find out how your company can enjoy a healthy slice of regional growth.

The team and I look forward to greeting you in Singapore!

Welcome

08.45 Implications of the Healthcare Reform for OTC Manufacturers and Retail Pharmacies in China

12.00 The Regulation Framework, Market and Future Trend in South Korean HFFIn the last decade, South Korea has acknowledged the very important role that ‘health functional food’ can play in the prevention of chronic disease. This has led to a new classification of nutritional products as defined by The Health Functional Food Act of August 26, 2003. In January 2004, this new legislation went into effect, making South Korea the second country to have a regulatory structure for health functional food – Japan, of course, being the first. The HFF Act governs a long list of ingredients, including proteins, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, fibre and a range of speciality and herbal products. In total, a few dozen nutritional ingredients are covered by the new law and can now make permissible health claims.Sun-Ho (Frank) Kim, President, Seah BioSolution

12.40 Lunch

13.40 Regulatory Changes in Asia-PacificThere are ongoing efforts to develop harmonisation schemes of regulations in ASEAN to facilitate trade in pharmaceuticals. Two important initiatives have been developed: ASEAN Common Technical Dossiers (ACTD), covering administrative data, quality, safety and efficacy; and ASEAN Common Technical Requirements (ACTRs), covering quality, safety and efficacy. Any company, which has an ACTD format or other formats which can be translated into ACTD format will have the opportunity to leverage the available one to facilitate entrance to ASEAN market. The session will discuss learnings on the leveraging of ACTD and ACTR in the ASEAN market, as well as proper adoption in the application process to local health authorities.Fiametta S.
