Masonic Discussions:

There are three great prohibitions in all Masonic discussions: All sectarian discussion, all argument or pro or con as to the merits of politics, or any given religion or theological creed, of racial questions, of private business, or any other non-Masonic subject by which men are divided into classes, feuds, schisms, or are opposed on sectarian issues, is at all times forbidden. It is strictly forbidden to discuss a petitioner, (other than to read his petition and indicate whether the report of the Investigating Committee is favorable or unfavorable), and for a Mason to reveal how he has voted, or in any way to seek to persuade members to vote one way or another. All offensive personal remarks, all expression of bitterness or ill will, acrimoniousness, and all or any slurs upon the Lodge or to it's officers, and the Fraternity itself, and all flippant, unseemly, or to it's officers, are condemned alike by the principles of common courtesy and etiquette and by the disciplinary laws of the Craft. A brother wishing to participate in a discussion in open Lodge should always rise, come to the Sign of Fidelity and when recognized by the Worshipful Master and with his permission, thank him for his recognition, and then speak on the subject at issue in the fewest possible words. The privilege of the floor should not be used as an opportunity to deliver a speech merely for its own sake. Remember, it's the little things that can create disharmony in our Lodges and within the Craft.

A KEY TO WORLD PEACE

“And to not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption. Let be put away (passive voice) from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be created kind (useful) (passive voice) to

one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ (the anointed one) has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:30-32). Historically, the goal of universal peace has long been sought but never fully obtained. Some of the precepts found in religious literature which would give us a better quality of life have not been adequately practiced by the human family. If we practiced them we could have a world of peace. Change of Address: Rev. Benson A. Benton, Sr. Central #311 22 Masonic Avenue Wallingford, CT 06492

Brethren,

I hope everyone had a great summer. I know mine sure was busy. Which is why this trestle board is

coming so late. As the summer unfortunately is winding down the new lodge year will be beginning.

There are a few issues I would like to address for the lodge and also some goals I would like to

accomplish. Brother Tim Heary has been in contact with our Canadian Sister lodge in Hamilton which I

plan on going with a group of brothers. Once we set dates any brother who would like to join is more than

welcome. The family picnic went well this year hosted by our Junior Warden, brother Phillip Weld, and

the Fellowcraft club holding a poker tournament. Brothers, our lodge is growing and if you haven't been

in awhile I urge you to please attend. Meet some of the newer brothers and also see some of the older

familiar faces, as well as some of the changes that have occurred downstairs. If any brother has an issue

or concern please don't hesitate to contact me.

Welcome back from summer break everybody!

Here we are in September, and we already had a very nice Brother Bring a Friend Night. Everything went

very well, and I personally want to thank everybody for their contributions, and helping to put on a very

good program for our guests. The dinner was excellent, as well as the program itself. Thank you

everybody!!!!!

Our first official communication for the year, will be the District Deputy Grand Master’s Official Visit.

That being said we are going to be having some practices for what there we can expect, and so that all

of our new Officers can get comfortable with their parts before that time. Those practices are currently

scheduled for the next 2 Mondays. Start time will be 7PM promptly.

We also had an officers meeting on August 24th, and we discussed, among other things, some ideas for

raising money for the lodge, and we had gotten a few really good ideas. So I will be scheduling another

officer's meeting to explore these ideas further, and talk about any other ideas, brothers might have for

raising money for the lodge. This meeting will be open to any member of Cataract Lodge, but I just want

ideas, not negativity. We will have that meeting on September 30th, which is the 5th Wednesday of the

month.

Lots of things are happening, and we need the support of every brother to keep us going! Wednesday September 23rd - DDGM Official Visit

Lodge opens at 7:30. Formal attire. Refreshments will be served following the

meeting.

Brethren:

Greetings, I hope everyone has had a wonderful and restful summer. It looks like we are going to start the new season at full speed. We have received a few petitions and will likely be doing the 1st degree in October. To prepare for this, Officers, please begin learning and polishing your degree work.

Speaking of degrees, a number of Brothers signed up for parts in the 3rd degree drama section for the Tuscan visit on October 3rd. Please remember to practice these parts, as well. In case anyone has
