Niagara Historical Society & Museum

Our Story chronicles the history of Niagara-on-the-Lake from its earliest inhabitants to the present day.

Through The Voices of Beads is a travelling exhibition of Iroquois bead-work from the Royal Ontario Museum and artist Samuel Thomas. On display until April 30, 2017.

Show and Tell will include the Niagara-on-the-Lake Court House Record Book - 1911-1920, recently acquired at auction by the Niagara-on-the Lake Museum. There’s some interesting local names whose ancestors spent time in the pokey! Just one of the great resources in the NOTL Museum. Found anything interesting? Bring it along!

The Art, Craft & Science of Art Conservation

January 11: Sandra Lawrence will lead off with an introduction to art conservation - its scope, basic principles and procedures – laying the groundwork for subsequent presentations.

January 18: Ray Tokarek will present examples of small and large projects undertaken at the ROM and as a private conservator, including gilding and gilded picture frames.

January 25: Stephanie Porto will provide a glimpse

into working on fine art and archival materials,

including projects undertaken during her time at the

Metropolitan Museum of Art.
