Introduction
The eToken NG-FLASH is a device that combines the powerful capabilities of
strong authentication with the convenience of mobile data storage.
The eToken NG-FLASH includes both a USB readerless smartcard and a flash
memory. The memory can be partitioned into a mass storage allocation and a
CD-ROM emulation.
The eToken NG-FLASH Partition Application 2.1 enables the partitioning and
initialization of the token’s flash memory according to the customer’s needs.
Using the eToken NG-FLASH Partition Application 2.1, the administrator:
Defines the eToken NG-FLASH flash memory allocation for a write-
protected CD-ROM. The remainder of the flash memory is allocated to
mass storage.
Loads files of applications and data into the ROM partition.
An Autorun feature enables the loaded applications to run directly from
the eToken NG-FLASH.
Preparing the Secure Drive Application Files
The eToken NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application directory includes an
eTFlash folder which contains prototypes of the files required for installing
the application. This application provides password-protection for locking
and opening the device’s mass storage partition.
The files required for locking and opening the mass storage partition are:
lock.exe – Runs the eToken NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application
eTFlash.exe – Provides an icon in the system tray for opening the eToken
NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application
autorun.inf – Enables the eToken NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application to
enforce password protection whenever the device is inserted

Before running the eToken NG-FLASH Partition Application 2.1:
Copy:
The contents of the eTFlash folder in the eToken NG-FLASH Secure
Drive Application directory
To:
The source folder to be copied to ROM partition when running the eToken
NG-FLASH Partition Application 2.1
Running the Application
Run the eToken NG-FLASH Partition Application 2. with one eToken
NG-FLASH inserted at a time. A warning message is displayed if the
application does not detect an inserted eToken NG-FLASH.
Note: You cannot partition an eToken NG-FLASH that has an eToken
NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application password set. Use the eToken
NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application to disable the password before running
the eToken NG-FLASH Partition Application 2..
If the password is not known, enter an incorrect password six times in the
eToken NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application. This disables the password and
reformats the flash memory.
To run the eToken NG-FLASH Partition Application 2.1:
1. Insert an eToken NG-FLASH 5.01.
2. In the eToken NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application directory,
double-click NgFlashPartition.exe.

To install the eToken NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application on an eToken
NG-FLASH 5.01 device, the source folder must contain the files provided
in the eToken NG-FLASH Secure Drive Application directory’s eTFlash
folder.

Troubleshooting
Autoplay of Inserted Media
Inserting an eToken NG-FLASH device with CD-ROM emulation may result
in the Autoplay feature starting. The Autoplay begins reading from the drive
as soon as the eToken NG-FLASH is inserted.
This behavior is not required in the initialization stage and may be annoying
during the process of multiple initializations. To temporarily disable the
Autoplay feature, please see:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/126025
Conflicting Mapped Drives
In Windows XP, there are a number of mapped network drives on the
computer. The insertion of an eToken NG-FLASH device can cause a conflict
with the existing mapped network drives.
Microsoft has documented this problem as: “New drive or mapped network
drive not available in Windows Explorer.” For a workaround, please see:
