NG2 Work is progressing well and the laying of track across the first half of Queens Drive is almost complete. We will be switching the traffic over in the next few weeks to begin the second half of track laying and this will join up with the work that is taking place along Enterprise Way. Unfortunately, essential traffic restrictions, including the right turn back onto Queens Drive, must remain in place until most of the work is done. Suspension of the Homebase bus stop has relieved some of the pressure on the junction, but we are acutely aware that the traffic restrictions along Queens Drive have caused considerable inconvenience for motorists attempting to leave the business park at busy times. All of the trackwork is on target to be completed by the middle of February and although some finishing work will carry on into April, this should not cause further disruption. We will keep you informed of progress with a regular construction update. We thank you for your continued patience during the completion of this work. The tram construction through the NG2 business park is split into two sections. Work crossing the main road on Queens Drive and work within the business park along Enterprise Way. But before tram construction can take place, underground utility services – such as water pipes, live electricity cables, drains, gas mains and communications cabling – have to be moved, or replaced, where they obstruct the route of the tramline. Queens Drive – this is split into two phases. Track is constructed on the Meadows side of the road first. The traffic is then switched to run over the new track whilst the second phase is built. This is to ensure that traffic lanes are available in each direction on Queens Drive Enterprise Way – work here is split into four areas. The road is wide enough by Experian to construct both tracks without any major restrictions to traffic. A full road closure is in place by the Triangle to allow track laying through this area and to maintain access to the new bridge over the railway. The section in between is completed in two phases with traffic restricted by temporary traffic lights, building the inbound section of track first before switching to the outbound track. Once the track construction is finished the footpaths and verges on either side will be completed and kerblines reinstated where required. The installation of the overhead cables then follows. The road surface is then replaced ready for trial running in advance of a full tram service operating at the end of 2014. The inbound section of track has now been

completed and work on the outbound

section of track within the road closure

west of the Speedo building is also due to

begin next month.

Track has now been installed in the first

section of the lane closure. The track

slab has now been constructed in front

of the Speedo building and we will be

completing concreting and surfacing

before switching traffic onto the new

road.

An additional car park has been made

available for construction staff by the

Speedo building. This is to stop tram

construction workers from causing

obstruction by parking on the road, or in

business parking areas. If there are parking

infringements, please let us know.

The first stage of track laying work across

Queens Drive is nearing completion, with

the switch to phase 2 expected to proceed

towards the end of November.

Unfortunatley this means that traffic

restrictions on Queens Drive will have to

remain in place.

The final phase will be completed by theend of February.
