Acclimation Period ▪ Initial two-week phase. Most challenging!▪ Identify students with desire/discipline to graduate.▪ Candidates have an opportunity to adjust to the

physical, mental, and social discipline of the program.▪ Teamwork, drill, leadership, followership, physical

fitness training, code of conduct.▪ Over 80% of the cadets will successfully complete

the program.

NJYCA has FREE TUITION. There are two classes each year that offer

youth the OPPORTUNITY to obtain their New Jersey High School Diploma!

HOW IT WORKS

Residential Phase ▪ 20 weeks

▪ Daily activities and service to the community.▪ Builds on life skills, job skills and self-concept.▪ Academic program prepares cadets for GED exams or

a return to their home high schools.▪ Mentors to support social/emotional well-being.▪ Skills taught to excel in community life upon return.▪ Field trips in support of experiential learning model.▪ Tech use to support academic/career exploration

Post-Residential Phase ▪12-monthsCadets continue to uphold commitment to the Academy.

▪ Graduates work closely with their mentors toensure continued success.▪ Academy partnerships with trade schools,colleges & corporations to support graduates’ goals.▪ Team effort to provide graduates with continuedsupports to succeed in self- management.▪ Case mgmt. support.▪ Armed Forces opportuni-ties in all military branches.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Citizen or legal resident of U.S.A.2. Male or Female ages 16-18 years3. Free of pending legal proceedings4. Must have Health Insurance5. Officially dis-enrolled in home High School

prior to class start date6. Unemployed or Underemployed7. Voluntary desire to attend and succeed

who have left their home high school.
