Bey was born in the Golden Triangle.

Unable to claim citizenship in any country, she was not allowed to go to school.

Living in poverty, Bey spent most of her time begging to eat. When she was 10 years old, a man told her she could make money selling flowers in a karaoke bar. Karaoke bars are notorious for selling sex.

We found Bey after she had been exploited for years. With the love, support, and schooling she received at our

children's home she was able to achieve what had initially seemed like an unachievable dream: she is now the first stateless child to enroll in college.

One of the only ways to become a Thai citizen is by graduating from a Thai university. Once Bey graduates she may become a citizen and will have the power to support herself.

She will be free.

THE CYCLE OF EXPLOITATION

We PROTECT vulnerable children by providing them with safe housing, stable living environments and the opportunities to learn, play and grow.

We INTERVENE in the lives of exploited children by offering alternatives to dangerous work offers, and providing safehouses for young survivors.

We RESTORE survivors through holistic programs and job trainings that allow individuals to thrive in environments of dignified employment.

We PREVENT young families from being exploited, and equip survivors to protect their children from abuse through job placement.

When a person is vulnerable they are trapped in circumstances beyond their control. Without help, an exploited child becomes an exploited teen, and then an adult with their own child who is in turn trapped in the same circumstances. Not For Sale works to break this cycle of exploitation at every stage because we believe that no one should be for sale. TOGETHER WE CAN

BREAK THE CYCLEOF EXPLOITATION

HOW YOU HAVE BEEN FUNDING FREEDOM IN Q2

We empowered working mothers through trainings with an artisan group which led to a 150% increase in jewelry production. With the increased income from their products, mothers are equipped to protect their vulnerable families.

We provided three young women with cosmetology training and the experience they needed to obtaina job. Training that leads to careers creates stability and independence for survivors by empowering them to excel in the workforce, with a job they enjoy.

TR AINING LE ADS TO EMPLOYMENT

A child like Bey who is rescued from exploitation has no power to set her life on course again. No amount of hard work allows a child to protect themselves. It is our job to provide the shelter, education and community these children need to be free.

For survivors who have completed our soup training, we successfully implemented a new culinary training program focused on the demands of working in a busy, professional kitchen. An extensive internship curriculum translates to stronger job opportunities.
