FSP is a personal load bearing and protection concept which enables the user withthe ability to adapt, through scalability and modularity. We developed the FSP byanalyzing the tactical and operational requirements that armed forces and law

enforcement agencies face. All the components of FSP, THOR load bearing, GARMcombat clothing, SKJOLD body armor and OPS-CORE helmet systems are designedto integrate seamlessly with each other. The FR tests showed us that thechances of survivability are vastlyimproved when wearing FR clothing

FR TestingIn co-operation with our selected scientic testinginstitute (EMPA Switzerland), we have tested a va-riety of congurations of FR and non-FR clothing.

EN 14 116 (EN 533) tests the fabric of protectiveclothing against heat and ames. Measurement ofame spread on materials.

EN 11 612 (EN 531) tests the fabric of protectiveclothing against heat and ames. Measurementof ame spread on materials. This includes extratesting for radiant and convective heat transfer.

ISO 13 506 instrumented manikin test for completegarments.

During these tests we exposed fully dressedmanikins to open ames for 4 seconds at a time.Through extensive research we discovered thatthe average time for an individual to escape anintense re either in a building or vehicle was 4seconds. Clothing designed to protect an individualfor longer than this will impede on the soldier'smobility. The nature of a soldier's role requiresthem to maintain a high level of mobility whichshould not be compromised by over-protection.

The results showed us that the chances ofsurvivability are vastly improved with even just onelayer of FR clothing. The manikins dressed in non-FR showed devastating results, with low chances ofsurvival.

FR LayeringCapabilitiesMost* GARM products are FR (Flame Retardant).Flame retardants are materials that inhibit orresist the spread of re. NFM FR products willnot melt or drip, protecting the user from seriousburns and injuries caused by re and explosions.The more layers of FR garments you wear, thegreater the protection. GARM LTO undergarments are worn as the base layer in combination withother clothing layers from the GARM Combat Clothing system.

The high-end Merino Wool is a ame retardant fabric (without the use ofchemicals) with excellent moisture/temperature management properties.

The GARM Combat Shirt is intended to be used in combination with bodyarmor under warm, climatic conditions. The shirt can be used directly on thebody, or worn over GARM HSO / LTO t-shirt.

The Combat Shirt combines three high-tech ame retardant fabrics, offeringcomfort and breathability. Its progressive design enhances ergonomics andcomfort for the end-user in various combat conditions.

Combat Softshells

Combat softshell garments are intended for usein combination with body armor or as an outergarment.

Softshells provide some protection from wind andrain without creating a build-up of condensationon the inside. The moisture vapor is then allowed

to pass through the soft shell fabric.

The system is designed so that the Combat Shirtcan be replaced by the Softshell Combat Shirtwhen temperatures drop. The Softshell Jacket canalso be used in combination with the Combat Shirt.This way, the GARM system can suit any climate ormission.

The GARM Cold Weather Jacket is made forend-users in need of an insulation garment, i.e.during ATV driving or static duty in cold conditions.

This jacket can be used in combination with theTIB or Extreme Cold Weather Pants, depending onclimate and/or operation.

The Extreme Cold Weather Jacket & Pants aremade for missions in extreme cold climates.These garments are water repellent andcomfortable. The pants can be worn alone or incombination with for example the Combat orSnow Overpants. Side zippers make dressing and
