Duties of an Ocular prosthetist using stem cells.

Duties of an Ocular prosthetist using stem cells.

• The duty of an ocular prosthetist that does not use stem cells is to make artificial eyes that look like real eyes but can not see.

• A stem cell ocular prosthetist would have the same duty but the eyes would be made of stem cells and could actually see things. The ocular prosthetist has to measure the eye socket, match the eye color and attach the artificial eye to the eye muscles so that when the real eye moves so does the artificial eye.

High school• Physics (Optics is a physics science) • Math (I will need to make

calculations)• Chemistry (To see what things are

made of) • Biology (I will need to know about

human life ie; cells)• Ceramic arts (To practice using my

hands)• In grade 12 I will take All my maths

(ie; functions, calculus and algerbra)• All my sciences (ie; physics, chemistry

and biology)

UniversityIn my under graduate studies I will take:Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Physiology,

Psychology, Anatomy courses, Embryology and Genetics.

I will obtain my bachelors of science. In graduate studies I will take…Masters in Science (that includes

specialized courses in all science areas.

PhD in Science (specific to physics and/or molecular biology.

SalarySalary

• An ocular prosthetist's salary per hour could be any where between $32 and $50.

• Annually an ocular prosthetist may get a salary of $66,600 and $104,540.

• The difference between the two salaries is experience public or private system or how good you are.

• I want to be an ocular prosthetist that uses stem cells so I will get approximately $250,000 more which would bring my salary to a grand total of 354,540.

Biotechnology

How it is linked to my job.

Biotechnology is a field of biology which involves the use of living organisms and technology. It is linked to my future job in the sense that an eye is part of a living organism and using stem cells to make an eye is technology.

The type and specifics of biotechnology used for this career.

• The specifics of biotechnology is stem cell research. You are using living cells to replace cells that have died. Embryonic stem cells clump together and are the easiest type of stem cell to use when making an eye.

• My job is also linked to Medical Biotechnology.
