Lufra is one of the most important milk processing companies in the Albanian market. Its activity began in 1992 with limited capacity of equipments and over time invested in advanced technology for an automatic production process c in accordance with European standards, by reaching a daily capacity of production to 12000 liters of milk. Lufra products are very competitive in the market due to the high quality of products, natural taste and distribution network that covers major part of Albania: Tirana, Durrsi, Elbasan, Lushnja, FIer, Vlora, Gjirokastra and Saranda. The company carefully selects the milk for processing and conducts daily analyses of chemical, bacteriologic and organic elements in a modern lab. Wineries “Arber” started its activity in 2003. The wine produced in this winery is made of a special native Albanian variety of grape called Kallmet, which gives a distinctive taste to the product. The area where the grape is grown, Bukmira is well known for its tradition in wine production. It is located 400 – 650 m above the sea level and is one of the best vineyards throughout the province. Planted in 1969-1972 Bukmira vineyards occupy an area of 100ha, where 60% is Kallmet and 40% other varieties. Vineyards of Bukmira off er a sweet wine with pleasant aroma.

Faculty for Food Technology, Food Safety and Ecology was founded in 2012, and has 40 students. This Faculty was created as a result of the fact that the food availability is a global problem (according to FAO and WHO, around 1,2 billion people around the world suffer from hunger and/or undernourishment). At the same time, there has been a dynamic development of food industry in Montenegro during the last ten years. All of this points towards deficiency in cadre and the need for improvement of knowledge in all the areas that are directly or indirectly linked to the whole food production chain. Here, the focus is primarily on the production process of different agricultural food items, hotel, restaurant and catering complexes (especially in the context of tourism offer development), hygiene and sanitary aspects of working conditions as well as en-vironmental issues (especially considering Montenegro as an ecological state).On the other side, the current global trends and developmental megatrends indicate the need for observing all the mentioned fields from the aspect of protection of nature and the environment, with optimal development and improvement of energy efficiency. In other words, contemporary experts – engineers – have to have responsibilities and considerations towards ecological standards and energy efficiency standards.

„Školjke Boke“ (Shells of Boka) is the first and only shellfish farm oysters in Montene-gro (Kotor), built on the principles of sustainable development, which also gives the possibility of a natural system of purification that is clean and healthy organic food from the water close to several permanent freshwater sources and 100 m the river of Ljuta. The founder and owner is eng. Nevres Djeric who since 2002 working on the study and the 2007 on the project for oyster. Intellectual Property Office of Montenegro recognize his patent number 00 302 as “Apparatus for collecting, receiving and shellfish farming - oyster.” Monitoring and development of the entire project from the start follows by the Institute of Marine Biology - Kotor, headed by Prof. Sreten Mandic, Dr. Aleksandar Joksimovic and Mario Bussani (President of the Italian Federation for mariculture Trieste). Montenegro has finally got its new brand - a product of “the Montenegrin Oyster” in 2012.

The Mechatronic District of Apulia Region, MEDIS, has been established on October 2007 in the form of a limited liability consortium company.

The Institute for Strategic Studies and Prognoses (ISSP), established in 1997, is the fi rst inde-pendent economic institute in Montenegro.

The ISSP is the leading independent economic think tank in Montenegro, serving as:

· An institution to set the agenda for advocating reform;· A vehicle to communicate economic change through data, analysis and publications; and· A training ground for a cadre of young economists, analysts, lawyers and other experts to understand the elements and analytical requirements for economic transformation.

The Institute focuses on key policy issues including currency, banking, fi scal, social, capital market and pension reform. ISSP’s research, policy papers and other analytical information provide a forum for debate and allow the business community and the government to make projections based on unbiased, well-researched data. ISSP surveys and national and regional seminars have spurred decision makers to address and defi ne priorities. The organization is recognized as a valuable contributor to economic policy reform activities, both as a source of information and analysis and as a catalyst for advocacy. ISSP strategic vision of Montenegro is based on economic freedom, private property, openness of economy, institutions of market economy, DM and EURO as only legal tender, as well as development of Montenegro as micro state.

EU project partnership (Programme HORIZON 2020) product development project research project

The objective is to better characterize the in vivo antineoplastic activity (already monitored in a model of pediatric sarcoma) of the class of synthetic molecules derived from maltol that we invented and patented in Italy and Europe (USA under consideration). These compounds have demonstrated intriguing antineoplastic activity exerted through a mechanism never observed for other antineoplastic molecules available.

In addition, two prototypes of these compounds (that we named ChroMOs – for Chroma-tin Modifiers) synergize with known epigenetic drugs and are able to induce a biological response also in tumor cells resistant to canonical cytotoxic drugs (eg. Cisplatin, doxorubicin).

We are interested also in a possible agreement of scientific collaboration and/or patent transfer.
