Principal’s Report

Parent Opinion Survey….. WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual

survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected

parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student

behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school

planning and improvement strategies.

Approximately 80 parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous.

This year the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 23rd July to Sunday 26th August.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 10-15 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time

within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The survey results will be reported back to the school at the end of September.

If you would like more information please contact me.

Book Fair….. The Book Fair is once again returning to LEPS. Every year, as one of our major fundraisers for the year,

the book fair is set up in the library for students and families to purchase new books. Every book purchased provides the

school with reward points that can then be cashed in for new books to support our library. Having purchased 2000 last

year and an additional 1000 books this year we want to continue to promote the importance of reading amongst our

students. All students will have the opportunity to view the books at the fair throughout the week. This year the Book

Fair will start on Thursday 26th July after school and be open before and after school on Friday 27th July, Monday 30th

and Tuesday 31st July. If you are able to help with set up / pack up or with sales of books please contact the office.

Attendance….. This year a major focus of our school improvement is to ensure all students achieve a 90% attendance

rate or better. We want our students here every day, to maximise their learning opportunities and invest in a strong

education. Students who have less than 90% consistently each year will miss a significant amount of school across the 7

years of primary school. Students who are consistently late also fall behind significantly in their learning. Given our,

dedicated whole school approach to literacy, we must start the learning from 9am. A student who is late can miss out

on valuable instruction and teaching time. Over the next month teachers will be looking at individual attendance rates

and teachers will contact families who may have slipped under the 90% attendance rate.

A reminder that our office is open from 8am for parents to contact the school and inform us of any absenteeism.
