NXIP Console Interface for Conventional

Model: NXR-x00 Series

Outline

The NEXEDGE Repeater firmware has been updated and now includes a NXIP Console Interface

for NEXEDGE Conventional System use.

This means that regardless of the IP Console’s physical location, it now can connect to a repeater

via an IP network, and transmit and receive digital audio and digital data message.

Operation

Up to 10 Console ID’s can be assigned to one repeater. The concept is the same as with the

NEXEDGE radios.

Console ID’s can have priority level to communicate between consoles.

When the console with high priority attempts to start a transmission while a low priority console

transmitting, the high priority console will be assigned a channel as soon as the low priority

console has finished its transmission.

One console is able to receive up to 100 GID. A separate RAN can be used for each call.

Console PTT is added to a PTT Priority setup (Network PTT, Repeat PTT, External PTT, MIC

PTT) of a repeater, and the priority of that can be set up.

When the conventional system uses the User List, the console ID is also applied.

Moreover, Time-out Timer, TOT Pre-Alert, TOT Reset Time, TOT Rekey Time and Repeat Hold

Timer will also be applied.

By using Cross-busy function and Busy Channel Lockout function, the console can start

transmission without interference to another call from subscriber.

Note:

During a repeater scanning a console cannot start transmitting.

Transmission by Local MIC PTT and External PTT at the repeater is not transferred to the

console.

Microsoft Windows 8 KAS-10 V4.0 now supports Microsoft Windows 8, but no touch input.

NEXEDGE Conventional IP connection Previously, the PC running KAS-10 needed to be connected via a serial cable to a mobile or portable radio. The radio needed to be installed in the radio system coverage area. With the support for an IP connection, the KAS-10 dispatcher can be installed anywhere within reach of an IP connection. This new solution provides more flexibility and saves the initial cost of a radio. Up to 10 KAS-10 V4.0 can be connected to a NXR-x00 repeater through an IP Network. Recording of audio is now supported in both directions. This means that the dispatcher audio and the radio audio can now be recorded. Previously, only the receive audio from the radio was recorded.

However it is impossible to record multiple group calls simultaneously like Trunking operation.

Busy Channel Check Telecommunications Regulators in some countries require that the channel/frequency is checked to be free before a transmission can be started. KAS-10 connected via IP to a conventional repeater can now check the receive condition of the NXR-x00 repeater.

・ System operation and operator efficiency has been improved, as up to 10 KAS-10 dispatchers can be connected simultaneously to one NXR-x00 repeater.

・ The following PTT Priorities can be programmed in the NXR-x00 repeater by the KPG-109D programming software: MIC PTT: Transmission by Microphone connected to the repeater External PTT: Transmission by controlling the back terminal of the repeater Repeat PTT: Transmission by repeat operation. Network PTT: Transmission request from another repeater connected via IP. Console PTT: Transmission by KAS-10 connected through IP.

If the Console PTT is configured with the highest priority, the repeat operation for subscribers is interrupted immediately, when a KAS-10 dispatcher starts a transmission.

KPG-109D > Edit > Optional Features > Common Page1 > PTT Priority

・ When voice communication and GPS information are required, it is recommend to use Busy Channel Lockout for a single site or two KAS-10, one for voice and one for GPS in a multi-site system.

・ Decode RAN can be configured in IP Network Options 1. Up to 63 Decode RAN can be listed. It is not configured to each ID. All RAN would be decoded. KPG-109D > Edit > Conventional IP Network > IP Console

Polling operation A function was added which increases the polling interval time in case a subscribers stops responding to GPS position information auto polling requests.

・ Automatic suspension of Polling a Subscriber

When KAS-10 receives a “Subscriber switched off” status message from a specific subscriber, the

automatic polling function for the specific subscriber is suspended. This stops unnecessary polling transmissions to subscribes, which have been switched off and are not available. If this happens for a number of subscribers, the polling time interval is adjusted automatically, so that the polling frequency can be increased and shorter update times can be achieved for the remaining subscriber units. If a subscriber becomes available again by sending a voice call, status message or data message to a KAS-10 dispatcher, the polling operation is resumed automatically. In case a KAS-10 dispatcher sends a status message or data message to a suspended subscriber or when a reception check is carried out on this subscriber, the polling operation will be resumed automatically. In order to use this function, when a subscriber is turned off the Transmit Off status has to be programmed and setup.

Setup > Auto Polling Options > Pause (Power-off) Setup > Auto Polling Options > Interval for a single Auto Polling Setup > Auto Polling Options > Interval for a series of Auto Polling KPG-111D > Edit > NXDN > Status > Power-on/off Status Message KPG-111D > Edit > FleetSync > Target > Power-on/off Status Message

・ Polling interval for the smart automatic extension when the radio was out of the area. When KAS-10 operates by auto polling function for receiving radio location information, KAS-10 automatically assumes that a radio is outside the service area when the radio does not respond within five counts of the polling cycle. After KAS-10 has completed 10 auto polling cycles for a specific radio without a response, the auto polling function will change to polling. This avoids unnecessary transmissions and creates time for other subscribers

The interval times can be programmed under the following menus:

Setup > Auto Polling Options > Interval for Out of Range Setup > Auto Polling Options > Interval for a single Auto Polling

Setup > Auto Polling Options > Interval for a series of Auto Polling’s

The KAS-10 can receive group calls from telephone NEXEDGE Trunking System configuration. KAS-10 dispatchers can be included in group calls setup from the telephone system via KTI-4. Calls to individual KAS-10 dispatchers and calls from KAS-10 dispatchers to telephone lines are not supported.
