NewTechWood Composite Decking

Since 2004, NewTechWood has been at the forefront of the design and manufacture of

Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) products to enhance outdoor living.

NewTechWood composite decking is available in solid and hollow profiles for both

commercial and residential applications*. All are wrapped 360 degrees, including the

grooves, with Ultrashield technology, which provides ULTRA protection against moisture,

mould, fading, mildew, UV and termites.

Note re the R11 Slip Resistance Rating:

The top of the decking boards is textured to give a more natural timber look and feel. This

textured surface has an R11 Slip Resistance rating – the smooth reverse side does not have

R11 Slip rating and is therefore not recommended to be installed face-up.

Decking Profiles

NewTechWood Decking Boards come in two profiles for both commercial and residential

applications.

Because the widely accepted building practice in the eastern states is to install decks on

sub-frame joist of 400mm-450mm centres, hollow deck boards are not distributed to the

eastern states at this stage. In Western Australia, the UH02 hollow deck boards installed on

frame with 350mm joist centres have been performing well for many years.

The UH02 Grooved Hollow Deck Board and the US49 Grooved Solid Deck Boards use hidden

fasteners, while the solid square edge boards use composite top-fixed screws for installation.

Grooved Solid Deck Board – US49

Our solid board profiles are more suitable for commercial projects and when replacing

existing deckings on sub-frames with greater joist spacing than required for hollow boards.

Solid deck boards are 25mm thick.

The Grooved Solid boards (US49) are finished with the US48 square edged profile. 15mm thick

solid fascia boards (US06) are also available for finishing.

Grooved Hollow Deck Board – UH02 (Available Western Australia only)

Hollow boards are lightweight and easier to handle and perfect for most residential

situations. They utilise hidden fasteners for a neat, contemporary finish.

A common misconception about hollow boards is that they are inferior in strength.

On the contrary, the arch structure of the void distributes pressure equal to the material

absent from the core, giving them the same fortitude as a solid board.

The hollow deck boards are 23mm in thickness.

The Grooved Hollow deck boards are finished with the US07 Square edged, solid board

around the perimeter, as picture-framing or breaker boards. 15mm thick solid fascia boards

(US06) are also available for finishing.
