Student Interview By Zachary Boisvert
Petals
Goes To
The Fair By Grace Turgeon
“Rumble, Rumble!” Petals awoke to Farmer Brown’s truck pulling up to the gate. There was a large, peculiar, wired cage in the bed of the truck. “I wonder what that’s for,” She muttered. Just then the door of the truck swung open and out hopped Farmer Brown. Petals looked at him. He was fancily dressed- for some reason. Before Petals could call after her mother, she realized she was in the arms that belonged to Farmer Brown.
“BAAAAAAAA!” she screeched.
“Its okay Petals, its okay,” he explained as he put her in the cage she had wondered about before. Not a second later, Farmer Brown came back with Petals mother, Bailey.
“BAAAAAAAA!” she screamed again.
“Petals, calm down now,” answered Bailey, as Farmer Brown put Bailey in the cage next to Petals.
“Mama, what’s happening?”
“The Mendon Country Fair.”
“What?”
“It’s a place we go every year. You’re put in a cage where people can look at you and young boys and girls can feed you. Its quite fun.”
“Oh Boy! Will there be other goats there to meet?”
“Goats, horses, cows, and chickens.”
“Oh Boy, Mama! I cannot wait!”
Petals road anxiously the whole way to the fair. When they got there, Farmer Brown unloaded them onto the ground in their cage. Petals felt as if it was hours before the first little
girl came. She was holding a tiny cup full of yummy looking goat food in her hand. She came over and started feeding her. Petals stuffed her face in the food then noticed a light pink ribbon tied in the girl’s hair. It looked very pretty, thought Petals, but you know Petals: always curious. In one quick motion she ripped the bow off the girl’s head.
But instead of crying, the little girl just laughed and said, “You can keep it,” as she tied it around Petals’ neck. Petals gave the little girl a rub against her knee, just before her mother and father took her away to see the cows. A few minutes later the boy came. First he yanked Petals tail, then he kicked the cage where Petals was standing. Then, he tried to pull the pretty pink ribbon off Petals’ neck, but Bailey was not going to let that happen. She ran from the other side of the fence and head butted right into him. He ran away with his mother and father chasing after him. “ You better run!” called Petals as he disappeared into the crowd.
Petals was playing with a young boy when she noticed a white blob across the pathway. The white blob started to move. Then four little legs grew out the bottom. It was a baby goat! “Over here!” called Petals. The goat raised his head and looked at her
“Hi there!” it yelled back.
“What’s your name?“ asked Petals.
“My name is Edison. What’s your name?”
“Petals, and this is my mama,” Petals an-swered looking at Bailey.
“How do you do?” questioned Bailey.
“Fine, thank you,” he answered.
“Lets play!” yelled Petals.
”How we are in fences?“
Petals looked around. Farmer Brown was talk-ing to a tall lady, and Bailey was playing with a little girl. The coast was clear. She sucked in her stomach and squeezed through a square in the fence then she ran over to Edison.
“Won’t your mama get mad?” he asked, a little worried.
“No, I do stuff like this all the time.” It was half true; she was a curious little goat. They ran and frolicked and chomped on the green grass. Then, Petals heard Bailey’s voice.
“Petals! What are you doing? Get over here before Farmer Brown sees!”
“I’d better go. Maybe we will see each other next year?” Petals said while slowly walking over to Bailey.
“Sure! I’m here every year. I’m a show goat,” Edison answered.
“Really? Like the ones that get pretty blue rib-bons? And certificates?”
“Yep! I do all sorts of tricks.”
“Wow! I’ll ask Mama if I can sneak out of my cage and come watch your show next year.” Petals squeezed in her stomach again, and slipped back in with Bailey.
“You know, curiosity killed the cat!” Bailey said smiling.
“What?! Our nice old barn cat is dead?!” Petals said in disbelief.
“No, no, no! It’s an old phrase,” Bailey said chuckling.
Petals decided to lie down for a few minutes and then she would play again. But she fell asleep by accident. She woke up to the loud noise of Farmer Brown’s truck. “Good Bye fair! Good Bye Edison!” Petals called sleepily as they rode away in the truck. “Maybe I’ll train myself to be a show goat, and me and Edison could compete together!” Petals went back to sleep and dreamed of doing jumps and tricks and earning blue ribbons.

The Roots Music Collective
came to visit Whitin Mid-
dle School on September
27th. They were a fantas-
tic band, playing all types
of music from Country to
Rock and Roll. One of the
three men started running
around, doing all sorts of
crazy dance moves, making
everyone crack up. They
could all sing, dance, play
all sorts of instruments, and
knew how to make everyone
laugh. They taught all the
kids about all different
types of instruments and
genres of music. The assem-
bly lasted an hour long full
of giggles, smiles, and won-
derful music. Some of the
kids said that they wanted
to be in a band like the
Roots Music Collective when
Roots Music Collective Visit by Grace Turgeon
they grow up. Almost all the
kids agreed that they were a
great band to be listening to
and hope they come back next
year. We all wish this band
good luck and happy playing!
Cross Country by Jake Lutton and Kyle Gauthier
On October 4th Uxbridge
had their second race and
the first race ever for the
fifth graders. We asked Ms.
Hill how it feels to coach
Cross Country and she re-
plied “ I love it, it really is
fun to see young kids spring
into young athletes.” We
asked one of the runners,
Joey Dubois, how it feels to
cross the finish line? He re-
plied by saying it was a big
accomplishment. We asked
two cross country runners,
Karni Murray and Abby
Cohen, “Do you ever want to
quit in a race?„‟ They both
replied, “We get tired but
we always try to finish!‟‟

Hello and happy new school
year! Last year, I reviewed
video games, but this year,
in addition, I will review
the latest video game
events. To start off the
year, I will review the
most successful video
game event (Seattle
Washington) of the year:
PAX PRIME! We will not
talk about PAX PRIME in
general; we will talk about
HALO FEST! This was the
first year of HALO FEST
in PAX. It was a 4 day
event with millions of fans
passing by. Some of the
highlights that were there
was the WORKABLE wart-
hog; a life size master
chief; a demo of Halo 4;
and the remarkable Halo
Combat Evolved Anniver-
sary. The Halo CE Anniver-
sary is created in celebra-
tion of the ten year Anni-
versary of Halo. It has
the same game play, new
sounds, and a feature
where you can switch be-
tween the old and new
graphics. Halo 4 holds the
4th installment to the mas-
ter chief saga. Halo is
the most successful
video game series in his-
tory (right next to Call of
Duty). Thank you for
taking the time to read
this, and I will see you
next time (or on Halo).
Goodbye.

Chapter One: In my Room By Lexie Maietta
“Princess Marana, what
is the matter?” my
favorite lady-in-waiting
Lady Sarana asked me.
Oh, how rude of me not
to introduce myself! I
am Princess Marana
Ecolana , daughter of
the great King Michael
Ecolan of Laitildana.
Now, my reply to Lady
Sarana‟s question was
my usual answer, ”Oh

She said something
other than her
“Alright.”Instead she
said, "I can see all your
worries, Princess. ” I
yelled" THAN WHY DO
YOU ASK ME!!!!?” Deep
down, I was sorry, but I
was too mad to care.” We
both know that you want
to beocall yeo siocalla,
vent your frustrations,”
she half-whispered, half-
spoke. I sighed, "You‟re
right,” .I then tenocaal tia ciena meana siocalla,
proceeded to tell her my
frustrations from my
Ciona minusa, D– in
matuissus, math,( my
least favorite subject) to
Cratiuss calling me a min-
koa attius, which is some-
thing really, REALLY bad.
I also told her about my
crush on Mattius, who is in
my sciencia , science (my
best subject) class. I
pretty much poured my
heart out to her.

Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure by Kevin Alves
Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure takes your favorite SSA toys into the game so you can play as that character. Many years ago there was only one portal master left, Eon and his Sky-landers. For many years KAOS has been wanting him gone so he can take over. One day he tried to kill the last Skylanders, they were winning at first, but then he had won! He de-stroyed the core, the last hope, and the explosion was so massive it killed master Eon, and sent the Skylanders into our world as toys! The only way we can get them back to their world is by using the portal of power. Send them back to their world! Decide their fate, win, or lose. I’d give the game a 10, and it’s a great Christmas present for any kid 7-12.
Book Review
The chronicles of vladimir tod by Vinicios Cunha The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod is a story about a half vampire and half human. Vlad’s parents died in a house fire when they overslept, and now he lives with his aunt Nelly. His uncle Otis visits him once a while and teaches how to become a stronger and more powerful vampire. He is becoming stronger and stronger every-day . I recommend this book to everybody. It is a romance, action, comedy, and fi-nally, it’s amazing. I hope you like books This one gets my full recommendation.
Real Steel by Kevin Alves
A movie that will always have you wanting more. Each scene will always feel like it is very short, when really
the movie was quite long, but time well spent. From robot boxing to saving lives, the movie just keeps getting
better and better! Once you start seeing the first part you will get you hooked so you never want to miss a
second of the epic movie that it has come to be in the end. If there was going to be a movie about rock em’ sock
em’ robots, then I’m glad it was this one! On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 9.8 this movie is a must see!
