Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together: Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD. For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces... I will now say, Peace be within thee. Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.”

States was around a quarter million. And this is expected to be a low number as many Messianics are not registered on any “books.” (Statistics from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messianic_Judaism.)

The tenets of the Messianic Movement are pretty attractive. They teach vital, biblical truths about Yeshua and Torah. They believe in keeping the Torah. Many of their teachers share the New Testament in living color helping to strip away the Gentile mindset that blinds us to fully comprehending the rich gems of the Word. In fact, there is so much light shining in this fast growing movement that scores of truth-seekers from Christian religions are quickly converting, including many former S.D.A.’s.

We also have felt the draw of the Messianic Movement. After all, when you accept all of the Sabbaths and begin to love all of Torah, where can you meet? Nominal church congregations tend to shun and persecute those who believe this way. But, while we will continue to seek out and enjoy various Messianic speakers (whenever they are near us), we have noted a serious flaw in their doctrines which prevent us from ever joining the Messianic Movement ourselves.

What is the doctrinal flaw that we find so dangerous and significant that we felt this warning necessary? It has to do with Jerusalem and the Messianic Age. But, in all fairness, let’s read this tenet of Messianic theology in their own words. In an article titled What is Messianic Judaism? by the Jerusalem Council, a list of the doctrines of the Messianic Movement is given.

Because of this belief, many sincere Messianics are preparing to relocate to Jerusalem in the near future. As we are about to show in this study, moving to Jerusalem is dangerous since it is about to become the anti-Christ’s headquarters. Thus, these well-meaning ones who are preparing for an imminent move to the former “City of David,” are going to arrive just in time for the devil’s imposter to take David’s throne and usher in the counterfeit “Messianic Age.”

“Wait a minute,” some will protest. “What about all those Scriptures that prophesy good things for Jerusalem? Doesn’t this teaching go against those?”

Actually, it doesn’t contradict the good words about Jerusalem at all. The confusion has arisen over misunderstanding the identity of Jerusalem in these prophesies. But before we go into that, let’s look at a few of the very positive prophesies about Jerusalem.

“But I have chosen Jerusalem, that My Name might be there; and have chosen David to be over My people Israel.” 2 Chronicles 6:6

“But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for the Law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” Mic. 4:1-2

These verses alone are enough to get anyone who loves God interested in moving to Jerusalem! That is, if the Jerusalem mentioned here is the literal Jerusalem located in Israel today. But, is it?

One of the major problems God’s people have had in the past is knowing whether to look for a literal or figurative fulfillment to the prophecies. It was by looking for a literal Elijah to fulfill the prophecy of the forerunner to Messiah that the Jews didn’t recognize Elijah (John the Baptist – Matthew 17:10-13). In this case, the prophecy was misunderstood because a figurative fulfillment took place when they expected a literal one. The second reason God’s people misunderstand prophecy is that they get the timing all wrong.

For example, when Yeshua came the first time as the suffering Saviour Who would die on Calvary, even His closest disciples couldn’t get past their preconceived ideas about Messiah to see the truth. They were expecting Messiah in His second coming role – as the reigning King. Thus, they were looking for second coming work in His first advent. This led to disillusionment after the Crucifixion. Their misunderstanding of the timing of the prophecy caused them to miss the prophetic signposts as they were being fulfilled.

Pentecost ‘09Our thoughts and

prayers were with each Shavuot-keeping group around the world as we all joined together this past May 31st to seek the outpouring of the Latter Rain.

With our local group, we kept Pentecost weekend, meeting both on the Seventh-day Sabbath and on Pentecost. Our focus was on understanding Hosea 10:12, quoted above.

Shauna presented two new talks comparing the Latter Rain experience to lightning. Lightning is 5x hotter than the sun! It can contain over 1 million volts of electricity! It is a dynamic and powerful event. Comparatively, the Bible Pentecost was so powerful that 3000 people were converted in ONE DAY! The disciples’ SHADOWS healed people! In fact, there are two main reasons Bible students misunderstand prophecy: 1. They mistakenly look for a literal application instead of a figurative

one (or vice versa) 2. They misapply the prophetic picture to the wrong timing.

Could one or both of these misunderstandings be happening regarding the Jerusalem prophecies? It is an important enough concept to warrant careful consideration! And when the Bible says that YHWH’s Name is in Jerusalem and that His Law and Word go forth from there is it referring to literal Jerusalem?

In Matthew 23:37, Yeshua had something to say about Jerusalem. But, it is plainly not a reference to the literal city. “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” Jerusalem, in this verse refers to the people, not the literal stones and structures.

The prophet Zechariah refers to Jerusalem in an end-time judgment message. “I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand. Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof” Zechariah 2:1-2. YHWH knows the number of the hairs on our heads (Matthew 10:30), so He surely knows the dimensions of the literal city! The Jerusalem that is being measured is not the literal city in Israel. Rather, it is the professed people of God. And the measuring line He uses is His Law (2 Corinthians 10:12-13 and James 2:10-12).

In Zechariah 3:2, we find plainly that Jerusalem is referring to YHWH's people. “And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?” Here God calls Jerusalem "a brand plucked out of the fire." Yet the Bible tells us that every city and part of earth will one day burn in the cleansing Heavenly fire that will consume sin. (See Psalm 21:9, Micah 5:14, Malachi 4:1, Revelation 19:20, Revelation 20:9-15 and Revelation 21:8). In fact, the whole earth will be destroyed - which certainly includes the literal city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is going to be replaced, with a new, sin-free Jerusalem. As it says in Revelation 21:1-2 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven..." There is no need for a "new Jerusalem" unless the old Jerusalem is going to be destroyed. Thus, when God says in Zechariah 3:2 that Jerusalem is a "brand plucked from the fire," He is obviously referring to His saved people, not to the city itself.

Now let’s return to the texts our Messianic brothers and sisters use to promote us all moving to literal Jerusalem. In 2 Chronicles 6:6 the Bible tells us that YHWH has put His Name in Jerusalem. We do know that YHWH literally established the city of Jerusalem as His holy city, just as He established the nation of Israel as His holy people. But in Daniel 9:24, we find that this holy city would be “cut off.” It says, “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city...” The word “determined” means “cut off.” Thus, neither the nation of Israel nor the literal city of Jerusalem were especially claimed by YHWH at the end of this 70 Week prophecy (in the first layer of fulfillment – another is coming! – for more information, ask for our Daniel Timelines for the End Times DVD series or view our Daniel studies online at www.lightedway.org.)

...is how natural lightning strikes. It doesn’t strike randomly! Positive ions must gather on the ground creating an upward leader, which results in a channel being formed from the ground up! Lightning then strikes down this prepared channel. In like manner, the spiritual lightning of the Latter Rain will only fall on those who have prepared for it ON THE GROUND!

So many Christians are waiting for the lightning of Pentecost to get ready and become spiritually prepared. But, if we wait, we will miss it. For YHWH’s lightning only strikes a prepared heart.

We had about 25 folks here in our home for Shavuot. The prayer times were powerful and we all felt we had at least experienced some of the “drizzling” of the Presence of YHWH!

There were some miracles over this weekend also – for which we praise YHWH! We call this part of our story, “the Miracle of the Salads.” For Pentecost, we felt impressed that our minds would be clear for prayer and study if we encouraged our group to eat only raw foods for this important weekend. It turned out to be a

Can YHWH establish something and then remove His special blessing due to sin? Absolutely! He established Saul as king over Israel. But, due to Saul’s apostasy, the throne passed out of his lineage to David. Then, Solomon’s rebellion resulted in the kingdom being divided, etc... In other words, sin removes any “establishments” YHWH has made with a nation, kingdom, city, or building. Individuals from the “cut off” nation, kingdom, city, etc. may still repent and come to YHWH, however.

To demonstrate that YHWH establishes His Name in His people, and that His Law and Word are also put in His people – not in a city which is going to burn, consider the following verses:

In Revelation 14:1, we find that the Father’s Name is written in the foreheads of His people. “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with Him an hundred forty and four thousand, having His Father's Name written in their foreheads.” This is the location of the seal of God. Thus, by connecting other Scriptures on the subject, we find that the promise of YHWH’s Name being in Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 6:6) is not literally a city (which the Bible says is going to burn) but rather, His people. The saints are the figurative application of Jerusalem. And, after the seventy weeks prophecy was fulfilled in 34 AD (first application only of course) the term “Jerusalem” in a good way only applies to the people who follow YHWH.

Next, let’s consider Micah 4:1-2 which states that YHWH’s Law is going to go forth from Zion and His Word from Jerusalem. Who teaches YHWH’s Law? Is it a city, or is His Law taught by every true follower of YHWH no matter where they are? In Isaiah 8:16, it says, “Bind up the testimony, seal the Law among My disciples.” Plainly it is not about a place, the seal and the Law are established in YHWH’s true people.

Now, let us look at a very serious consequence for misinterpreting these Scriptures about Jerusalem in the last days. Jerusalem is about to become the center of the little horn and beast power! In Daniel 8:9 we are warned that the little horn will grow out of the four horns of the he-goat in the last days (Daniel 8:17) “And out of one of them (one of the four horns) came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.” This progression of the little horn will first unite the world under the “Holy” Roman church. Then the little horn will take the “pleasant land,” which is none other than Israel - and Jerusalem (for a full study on this, ask for our NEW Jerusalem and the Messianic Age DVD by Shauna Manfredine).

In 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 we are warned that the anti-Christ power will sit in what is purported to be YHWH’s temple. There, he will proclaim himself to be God. “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” When this prophecy takes place (at the end) there will be no ground LESS HOLY than this abominable temple where the anti-Christ reigns from! Also, in Revelation 11:8 we find that Jerusalem (the seat of the beast) is where the two witnesses will finally be killed (after 1260 days of witnessing against the beast). It is also interesting to note that the Holy See has plans to make the new Vatican City in Jerusalem (http://samsonblinded.org/news/ welcome-to-jerusalem-mein-pope-11151).

On Friday, May 29, we were impressed that even salads should be prepared before the Sabbath. So, claiming the blessing of the manna over two huge bowls of salad (one for Shabbat and one for Pentecost) Shauna cut and assembled the salads. Ingredients included tomatoes AND avocadoes. For Friday evening dinner, Shauna used the same ingredients to make the dinner salad. All three salads were prepared around 3:00 PM on Friday.

When Sabbath came, Shauna brought out the first prayed over salad. It was gorgeous! Not a hint of wilt in the lettuce, or even the slightest bit of brown on the avocadoes! It truly looked like it had just been cut. But the miracle was even more pronounced when Shauna showed the leftover Friday night salad. It had brown avocadoes, wilted lettuce and mushy tomatoes. Oh, and the Pentecost Sabbath salad, one day later, was as lovely as the Shabbat salad!

It was another reminder of how awesome YHWH is! He even cares about the little things like salads! It was a very special Sabbath-Pentecost

Many of you responded to the survey in our last newsletter about whether we should host feasts here in Oregon, camp-meeting style, or be available to travel to support other camps. Thanks for answering!

Overwhelmingly the response indicated that you would all like to see the DVD’s and materials keep coming without any hindrance, but that if we were called to travel we had your support and prayers.

One lady contacted us and said that she had been praying that somehow God would work it out for us to share at their meetings in B.C. Canada. Thinking she couldn’t ask because of the meetings in Oregon, she felt that our survey was an answer to her prayers. We are planning to keep Tabernacles by helping with this friend’s camp-meeting in Canada this fall. Whether we will host a retreat in the spring remains a matter of prayer. If we have the spiritual “oil station” in place by then, we will certainly be hosting a Passover / Unleavened Bread retreat as we could do so without needing to rent a facility, etc.

Movement firmly believe that Messiah will touch down on the Mount of Olives, enter Jerusalem and reign in that physical city in the unending Messianic Age. But the Word of God teaches that Jerusalem is a wicked place that must be destroyed. In fact, as it will become the seat of the beast, there will be no city more wicked than the city of Jerusalem in the last days! Will there be a “Messiah” who will touch down on the Mount of Olives? Yes, but he won’t be Yeshua! Will this Messiah reign in the temple as Christ and have a law that emanates from Jerusalem (his throne)? Yes, but it won’t be YHWH’s Torah!

The Bible warns us plainly that we are not to choose to be anywhere near the anti-Christ! Mark 13:21-22 says, “And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.” And Matthew 24:26-27 explains, “Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

Dear ones, if you have been considering the Messianic invitation to move to Jerusalem where God’s Law, Name and throne will radiate from, please reconsider! You will arrive just in time to meet the beast! And in so doing will have disobeyed our Saviour’s warning. There is no protection for those who willfully go against Scripture.

Jerusalem WILL be a holy place again; but, not until the beast is destroyed, and the city of Jerusalem itself is burned in Heavenly fire. Then, the New Jerusalem will descend where the former one stood (Revelation 21:1-2). Only then will Jerusalem literally be the seat of the true God’s throne! Until that day, Jerusalem is you! You, who love YHWH’s Law and will be sealed in the Father’s Name are His Jerusalem. May none of us fall short of this high and holy calling! For a couple of years now, we have been living in a rented house that has been up for sale. And even though market conditions are not good right now for selling a house, we know that at some point this house will sell, and we will need to move. It is because of this situation, and a desire to live in a country setting where we can live off of the land and perform ministry functions, that we have been earnestly seeking YHWH’s direction in regards to finding a “permanent” home for Lighted Way Ministries. We have had some offers for a property, but we knew that none of them were the Heavenly Father’s plan for us, as they all involved some compromise in our beliefs and teachings. (While we are willing to change our beliefs if they are shown to be in error Scripturally, we aren’t willing to change for earthly gain.) So, we have continued to wait upon YHWH, and have even began to wonder if maybe it was just too late in this world’s history for such a training center.

We are content to serve the Heavenly Father here in Roseburg just as long as He wants us to be here. But, since no doors were opening, or closing, we have felt blessed to labor in the vineyard here as we continued to pray about our future.

But, recently, the dream has taken on some new dimensions and has been resurrected in a really big way! The new dimensions came from listening to some CD’s of the powerful book titled The Heavenly Man. This book (on CD) about Brother Youn, told a faith-building and inspiring story of Brother Youn’s miraculous experiences in China in the 1970’s and 80’s. It tells of the terrible persecution and suffering the Christians in China were experiencing as the government attempted to crush the Gospel work.

The testimony of Brother Youn was especially relevant, we felt, as globalists like David Rockefeller have heralded China as a successful New World Order experiment. China is the model for what the United States is to become, they say. Thus, as we listened to the stories of Brother Youn and how the house church movement in China was nearly persecuted out of existence, we were especially impressed with how God used Brother Youn to strengthen the cause of Messiah. At a time when the flame of truth began to flicker and the Christians began to sink into self-preservation mode, YHWH impressed Brother Youn to start a spiritual “oil station.”

This oil station became a very practical and hands-on training center for YHWH’s missionaries strengthening them to stand and recharging the Gospel flame. The story spoke to our hearts, as we began to see that this is what Yahweh was impressing upon our hearts to start here in the United States, a center were families and young and old alike could come to be trained for the missionary work YHWH’s people will all be doing in the dark times ahead.

Knowing that we had to start somewhere, we prayed and began looking at country properties again. A friend sent us an e-mail regarding a property that was for sale way out in the mountains. That is how we met the owner, Tim. But, when we went to see this property, we realized it wasn’t the right one. Rather YHWH had arranged a Divine-appointment for us to meet Tim. He had come out of the Sunday keeping movement and had become a Sabbath keeper simply from reading the Word of YHWH! We were thrilled and prayed to strengthen and encourage him in his walk with God.

We spent a wonderful day getting to know and spend time with Tim. Then we thanked Tim and said goodbye expecting to continue to pray for him, but not thinking we’d see him again. About a week later, Tim called us. Someone had put one of our Daniel tabloids into Tim’s hands! He read it and was very blessed.

For a couple of years now, we have been living in a rented house that has been up for sale. And even though market conditions are not good right now for selling a house, we know that at some point this house will sell, and we will need to move. It is because of this situation, and a desire to live in a country setting where we can live off of the land and perform ministry functions, that we have been earnestly seeking YHWH’s direction in regards to finding a “permanent” home for Lighted Way Ministries. We have had some offers for a property, but we knew that none of them were the Heavenly Father’s plan for us, as they all involved some compromise in our beliefs and teachings. (While we are willing to change our beliefs if they are shown to be in error Scripturally, we aren’t willing to change for earthly gain.) So, we have continued to wait upon YHWH, and have even began to wonder if maybe it was just too late in this world’s history for such a training center.

We are content to serve the Heavenly Father here in Roseburg just as long as He wants us to be here. But, since no doors were opening, or closing, we have felt blessed to labor in the vineyard here as we continued to pray about our future.

But, recently, the dream has taken on some new dimensions and has been resurrected in a really big way! The new dimensions came from listening to some CD’s of the powerful book titled The Heavenly Man. This book (on CD) about Brother Youn, told a faith-building and inspiring story of Brother Youn’s miraculous experiences in China in the 1970’s and 80’s. It tells of the terrible persecution and suffering the Christians in China were experiencing as the government attempted to crush the Gospel work.

The testimony of Brother Youn was especially relevant, we felt, as globalists like David Rockefeller have heralded China as a successful New World Order experiment. China is the model for what the United States is to become, they say. Thus, as we listened to the stories of Brother Youn and how the house church movement in China was nearly persecuted out of existence, we were especially impressed with how God used Brother Youn to strengthen the cause of Messiah. At a time when the flame of truth began to flicker and the Christians began to sink into self-preservation mode, YHWH impressed Brother Youn to start a spiritual “oil station.”

This oil station became a very practical and hands-on training center for YHWH’s missionaries strengthening them to stand and recharging the Gospel flame. The story spoke to our hearts, as we began to see that this is what Yahweh was impressing upon our hearts to start here in the United States, a center were families and young and old alike could come to be trained for the missionary work YHWH’s people will all be doing in the dark times ahead.

Then, he saw Lighted Way Ministries and our address on the last page and remembered that this was the name of our ministry.

“Do you have any more materials like this?” he asked. Did we?! We gladly put together a packet of materials and sent it off to him. We continued to pray for Tim and wondered if we would hear from him again.

Another week went by and we were impressed to fast and pray over this property search. On the last day of our fast, Tim called. He told us he’d found a piece of property. Tim mentioned that as soon as he walked onto this property, the Holy Spirit impressed him that he needed to contact Lighted Way Ministries as this was exactly the property that we would need to do what Yahweh was preparing for us to do.

Amazed, we arranged to see it. Tim, a logger by trade, was preparing to buy this former church campground. The property is 220 acres with forests and meadows, a 6.5 acre private lake and fully furnished church camp buildings with enough beds to sleep 144 people. Tim was planning to buy the property in order to do some logging and then turn around and sell it again. But, instead of lining up the final buyer as is his custom, Tim was impressed to hold it for Lighted Way Ministries, in the belief that YHWH is going to provide the means for us to buy it and open a spiritual “oil station” there.

The property itself is stunning. There is a hall with rooms and beds enough to sleep 26 people. There is a hotel-style lodge next to the hall with 8 hotel-style, fully furnished bedrooms (each with a private balcony overlooking the lake and a private bathroom). There is a lovely gymnasium and a chapel and a dining hall which seats 150 people. The commercial kitchen is completely equipped. In fact, the whole place is not only well-built, it is fully furnished and ready to go!

Tim is negotiating to buy the property and he and his partners have made an accepted offer that is about 35% of the original asking price. Tim expects to sell it to Lighted Way Ministries minus the funds he will make off of the timber. About a week ago, he and his partner took Mark out to walk the property boundaries and to look for alternative energy sources. It turned out to be another Divine appointment as Tim’s partner, TJ, asked about the Sabbath(s) and was eager to listen as Mark gave him an impromptu Bible study that lasted the whole drive there.

It was another God-ordained day as Mark not only had several opportunities to encourage and spiritually strengthen these men, but they also expressed a desire to know which trees we wanted gone and which trees we wanted kept on “our” property.

Amazed, Mark reminded the men that we don’t have any of the money needed to buy this place. “Are you praying about it?” Tim asked.

“Yes, every day.” Mark responded.Tim replied, “well, so am I. And I believe God wants you to have this place, so He’s

going to do it,” Tim also informed us that he was going to leave everything exactly where it was as he felt it was all supposed to be ours. And he is only taking the trees we have “approved” of. It is truly amazing to see what YHWH is doing in this man’s heart.

During the drive home, TJ also told Mark that he was going to pray that God would provide this place for us, as he also believed that it was supposed to be “ours” (God’s).

Naturally, we’ve been doing a whole lot of praying about this one. One thing we have been praying about is a team to help in doing the training. Amazingly, it appears YHWH is already working on the team! We have a possibility for a very qualified and committed Christian couple to teach health and natural remedies! This couple has been involved in full-time health ministry workIn the past, had taken a break from it,and believe that it may be time for them to get back into a full-time health ministry. Please join us in keeping this possibility in your prayers. We don’t know what to say except that we may soon be inviting you to praise YHWH with us - in a grand opening. May YHWH’s will be done!
