PRESIDENT’S NOTE
Our President and Millie, having had a good time wan-dering about the southeastern U.S., have returned to us, with Bob taking the helm from Shirley.
First I want to thank my V.P. for standing in for me while we were out of town. The car show will be history for this year by the time the newsletter is out. A big thank you to Mark, Don and all their helpers for a job well done. Don't forget that the nomina-tions for next year's officer's are due during the month of May and election is in June. And last but not least, our resident snow birds will be heading home. We wish them a safe trip home and wait for their return. Bob

EDITOR’S CORNER
A big welcome back to Bob and Millie Deets. They had such a good time on their trip, temporarily freed from the heavy responsibilities of office. Shirley Anderson did a great job of filling in for Bob at the April member-ship meeting. IT WAS A SMASHING SUCCESS!!!! She gave a whole new meaning to dropping the ham-mer. Shirley said she liked the cookies too. WHAT A WONDERFUL CAR SHOW!!!!!! The best ever! Where else could one view the best of classic, muscle, and rat rod cars and trucks, as well as a 25,000 horsepower jet-power dragster, fielded by Hayden Proffit, his son and grandson? Judy and I had a great time, talking with the Grand Master of Drag Racing, who had many fascinating things to tell us of one of the world’s fastest trucks (400 MPH!), a real pavement blaster. We owe Mark and Don so much for having put this extravaganza together. Only because of their hard work could such a feat be carried off. Your friendly editor had pardoned Mark from the grueling task of putting his monthly summary together, in his “uneek stile” for this month’s issue. He deserved a well-earned rest for a few days, but I should have known better. Instead, Mark put together the following great report and update. By the way, there is a certain great hot rod offered for sale somewhere in this issue. It’s a real metal body ‘28 A, not a replica. AND IT’S A FORD POWERED BY A FORD!!!! The pictures from our Car Show could not be fitted into this month’s issue, We had so many great pictures from four previous events, that your editor wanted to give the pictures from our Show their deserved expo-sure. They will be given first priority in the June issue of our Newsletter. Of course, if the membership wants, a SPECIAL EDITION with only the pictures from our Show can be put together. It’s up to you folks. It’s your Newsletter. Your editor just pushes pictures and words around that you send in. He’s sort of a literary janitor.
AC TIV AT EE RE PORT By

Howdy Y'all, Its that time again, yup ac tiv a tees report time. here goes, WAT HAPPUND Our April meeting was very spirited??? Informative and by the club's reaction to our very good lookin vice president's gavel attack on some poor defenseless plate of, I believe chocolates, humorous. makes for a great meeting don't ya think????? April 11th. we showed up at the Blue Bonnet Festival bright and early, well most of us did, somebody didn't of course....R.A....anyway we showed up at our special LARC parking area with 30 plus cars and a huge trailer which was called " when are they going to move that big S.O.B?." I think that was the name cuz everybody kept saying that but come to find out it's real name was The Band Stand. whoda thunk!!!! anyhow everyone had a great time and the weather was goshdarn perfect. April 25th.our annuall, much looked forward to Car Show was finally going to happen. After every-body worked so dammmmd hard it was going to really happen and it did. the weather was really great after the fog of course, gotta have some DRAMA to make things interesting, The club participation from the get go was wonderful, everybody who was somebody showed up to help and for so many different personalities in our club, I believed that the set up was as good as it gets!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we had some very special cars and trucks show up to be in our show, from the 1920's to Baylie the pink fire-truck, also a jet powered pickumup truck brought by Hayden Proffit the 2nd. Lots of variety, a little for every-one's taste. speaking of taste, how about our food vendors, were they great or what????? and for those who don't tee to-tal, the wine on the corner was how do you say it? Superb. Back to the show, I'm thinkin we have by far the best event around this area, some may say Hamilton because of the food, but if we Donated the way we SHOULD (at Hamilton) for food and vehicle registration, I feel we have a better show, plus an airshow almost on site, Terri our announcer is the best, also sings the finest anthem almost anywhere and better vendors, if ya add that up I think y'all agree!!! Back to the show. everyone I talked to said they would come back next year, par-ticipants and vendors I also think the way we do the judging and awards are the best way possible for partici-pants..no pressure on the club to pick winners. Thank you all for your support, I really appreciate everyone who stepped up and made this so special. Your ac tiv a tee directors will have a thanks to all who helped, pot luck dinner some time in May email to follow. WHUT’S GOIN 2 HAPPUN The next car show event is May 9th at Goldthwaite then our meeting the 12th and then our 2nd. Wild Flower Seed Farm get together mungst the plants on May 16th seems like a full schedule to me. emails to follow. I love ya all muchly and put myself out to you, and again iffen ya don't like what im doin XXXXXXX X yerself MARK also my hotrod is for sale so man or lady I don't discriminate bring me $$$$$$ and you can have the time of yur life!!!!!!!!!
