Kaurics AP U.S. History. I am proud to make the announcement that our class has been awarded a technology grant! To give you a backstory of this grant, myself and our school submitted a grant proposal for to purchase state of the art software for our class. Through this process, I wrote a proposal and we were chosen to receive this grant. What this means for your students is, they will have the access to hardware and software that isn’t typically seen in the social studies classes. I believe that we are on a journey and technology is the wheels that get us there.

The software that we are excited to use in our classroom will have lasting benefits on our program and your children. All of the IPADS will have Microsoft office 365. This program is free for us to use on the iPad, and in turn, we were able to have that extra money to buy the IPADS themselves. We chose to use the remainder of the funds to purchase instructional software, Flocabulary, stack the countries, back in time, acting history series, I Civics, and Making history series. Along with those important programs, we were also to purchase Dragon Naturally Speaking 12, Inspiration 9 US, DOMO, Ken

Burn APP, and WWII Global Conflict. I encourage you to

research these amazing programs and how they benefit your child. Furthermore, as your student’s teacher, you can count on me too keep up with the newest free educational programs for our class curriculum.

This software will enhance learning by allowing our students to have the software to create surveys, word process from the classroom, conduct world class research, and have the access to databases from around the world at their fingertips. The Dragon Naturally speaking 12 allows students to dictate with speech what text appears on not only documents, but also other programs. The Making History series and Acting History series have an enormous database of historical and current event games, simulations, and projects to be used with the current curriculum.

Supreme Court, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. This activity allows students to experience running a complex campaign and win the presidency of the United States.

The ISTE NETS-S standards this software achieves is many. First, the ISTE stands for International Society for Technology in Education. These standards are how we are able to measure technology in the classroom. For us as teachers, this new technology would achieve the standards to facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity by giving students access to virtual environments in order to collaborate and create sound projects, design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments by designing online interactive assessments, model digital age work and learning by using and adapting the latest and most effective computer technology for our students, and promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility by using learner centered strategies to effectively teach our students through technology. Along with those standards addressed for teachers, there is also ISTE standards for our Students. Through this new software our students will achieve the standards of creativity and innovation by using models and simulations, communication and collaboration by allowing the students to collaborate on projects with teams and publish original works, research and information fluency by collecting and processing data reports, and critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making by planning and managing activities, analyzing data, and using multiple perspectives to address a variety of problems.

New IPADS!

This grant also made it possible for us to purchase 10 brands new IPADS from Apple. These new IPADS will be loaded with all of the software that the grant purchased, along with many other useful online apps. These IPADS are equipped with the latest capabilities and they will be for some time. They will have the ability

to

function over the entire school campus and able to be used after school! We are very fortunate as a class to have such great technology and with your support, our students will grow in it.
