Angie Willis was born and raised in Pearland. She graduated from Pearland High School a full year early and immediately started her collegiate career at the University of Houston Main campus. She received not only a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Management, but later returned and received a Master’s of Business Administration as well. Angie worked as an accountant in the commercial real estate industry for 10 years before finding her passion in bookkeeping for small businesses. Small
businesses became such an interest that she left the corporate world to form her own small business, A Willis Solution, in 2015. Angie’s organizational skills and attention to detail provide her small business clients access to accurate bookkeeping without
having to employee a full-time person. A Willis Solution knows that your business is your passion – we’ll handle the numbers.Angie has been with her husband Travis (owner of Sivart Graphics) for 15 years. In their free time, Travis and Angie enjoy camping, attending Renaissance festivals, and trying new restaurants.
Since 1948, the Lions Club of Pearland has been making a significant difference in Pearland. Within a year of its beginnings members organized to create the water district and the first systematic collection of garbage for the city. Individuals hauled trash in 55 gallon drums loaded in the backs of their pick-up trucks to the garbage dump located on a ten acre tract purchased by the club. The club paid for the first street signs and organized
the installation of the first city street lights to light the dark streets of Pearland. In 1959, the Lions Club financed an election to incorporate the City of Pearland. An annual fund-raiser, a Turkey Shoot, was developed in 1952 that would continue to generate funds for many worthwhile community projects. The first “Shoot” was held on the property that now houses the high school football field. Many of the ongoing projects of the club were to make children’s lives better. Seeing a need for children to be able to walk to school safely the club built 1000 feet of sidewalks. The first baseball field was built with support from the entire community on Lions Club Property. In those early days, there were only 2-3 teams and the Lions Club provided the team T-shirts. In the early 1970’s, the club sold three of its five acre tracts, and used the entire profit for community projects. The Dad’s Club, an organization for young men to play baseball, received $60,000.00 for the construction of a facility. A plaque located at the city pool memorializes the club for $100,000.00 given to the City of Pearland for construction of the pool in Independence Park. In 2001, the Pearland Lions Educational Foundation was founded to assist with providing educational scholarships for Pearland High School Seniors.Lions Club fund raisers now assist various Pearland community organizations such as Christian Helping Hands, Neighborhood Center, Adult Reading Center, Project Graduation, D.A.R.E., and Vic Coppinger YMCA. They provide eye glasses and hearing aids to the Pearland school district. Texas Children’s Camp in Kerrville, Texas is a state project assisted by the club.The Pearland Lions Club general membership meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at the club located at 3350 S. Main St. Social begins at 6:30 PM; meeting starts at 7:30 PM. The Board of Directors meet on the 4th Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
