    WOMENS ENTREPRENEURSHIP DAY EVENT - WED KOSOVO

    Womens Entrepreneurship Day is a global event celebrated in 144 countries.The WED event was organized under the Patronage of the President of theRepublic of Kosovo, Her Excellency Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga who declared thatthis year we celebrate on a special day on the Womens EntrepreneurshipDay the importance of recognizing the role of gender perspective in the devel-opment of our economies, focusing our attention towards women entrepre-neurs whose vision has created lasting impacts in our country as they did world-wide. This event with around 130 participants and more than 20 guest speak-ers brought together top female leaders, international Ambassadors, CEOs,celebrities, media personalities and politicians, gathered to offer their support

    and encouragement to women in business. This year for the first time inKosovo, Mrs.Mirlinda Kusari Purrini, SHE-ERAs Founder/Executive Directorwas selected the WED ambassador to represent our country and addressedthe welcoming remarks where she stated that: Womens Entrepreneurship Dayis an international movement which will continue throughout the year to provide support to women entrepreneurs in each continent.The main purpose of WED is the empowerment of women in business and the creation of think tank groups with women leaders toencourage the business expansion through positive initiatives at a global and national level. Starting on December 3rd, 2014 theWomenWOW movement will begin to help drive, celebrate and support women-owned businesses, organizations and causes world-wide and also bring awareness to all the amazing organizations and women owned companies that need our support! The WEDKosovo Ambassador Mrs.Kusari Purrini throughout this day and during the whole year aims to provide support and promote womenin business because they are a vital part of our countrys economy.

    POSITIVE EXAMPLES OF SUCCESSFUL WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE

    Below are presented examples of successful businesses of women entrepre-neurs in agriculture, beneficiaries of the SHE-ERA's project "SupportingWomen Entrepreneurs in Agriculture 2012-2015" (supported by the Ministry ofForeign Affairs of Denmark) who are also beneficiaries of the governmentschemes. The following two examples present successful women from themunicipality of Kamenica and the village of Dobran, region of Gjilan.

    Emine Dervishi The municipality of KamenicaMrs.Dervishi has 15 years of experience in the cultivation of over 200 speciesof trees, and all kinds of tree and flower seedlings and in an area of (4.5ha) ofland. For 8 consecutive years Mrs.Dervishis business, "Fidanishtja Parku" haswon the tender to supply and maintain the parks of the municipality of Gjakovawith pine trees. She has managed to successfully expand her businessthroughout Kosovo, where regular clients of "Fidanishtja Parku" include: HIBgas stations, private houses in urban and rural areas in different regions of Koof 3 full time employees and 3-4 seasonal employees. The business is registered, and Zj.Dervishi declared that the participation inthe one-month business training "How to start a successful business" provided by SHE-ERA has helped her advance in her own fieldof work.

    SECOND MEETING - SUPPORTING WOMEN'S ENTREPRENEURSHIP

    Opatija, 23-26 September 2014 Under the umbrella of the project, "WomenEntrepreneurship - A Job Creation Engine for South East Europe", SEECELorganized the Second Women Entrepreneurs Working Group (WE WG)Meeting.The aim of the meeting was to bring together representatives ofnational associations of women entrepreneurs from nine participating countriesto review, reflect and build upon the outcomes from the First WE WG Meeting,held earlier this year in Tirana, Albania. During this event many successfulstories were presented. Obstacles that entrepreneurs face were discussed, aswell as the goals of supporting and developing the connection between highereducation and the economy. Many group discussions and activities later onwould focus in these module training topics: Leadership and Motivation,Customer Centricity and Financial Literacy. Ms Zdenka Lonar,-Assistant of theMinister at the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts presented the Strategyof Women Entrepreneurship Development in the Republic of Croatia.

    THE TEB BANK AND SHE-ERA PROGRAM TO SUPPORT WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

    The program for supporting Women Entrepreneurs which is a result of theagreement between TEB Bank and SHE-ERA, is offering opportunities forwomen and young girls who have entrepreneurial initiatives to benefit fromthese programs within a period of six months on: assessment of the businessidea, individual counseling, meeting with investors (for women entrepreneurswho have the final form of business plan and products/services which are at thestage of commercialization). The program is divided into four phases: the initialphase (workshops), the mitigation phase, the phase of linking with investorsand the mentoring phase. On 8 December 2014, SHE-ERA in cooperation withJakova Innovation Center (JIC) held its second meeting with the first group ofwomen entrepreneurs interested to benefit from this program with Turkishconsultants from the Girisim Center. The group of women beneficiaries willproceed through the above mentioned stages. In the meantime, we are in the

    process of creating a second group of women entrepreneurs from differentbusiness profiles to become beneficiaries of this program.

    REGIONAL STRATEGIC CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOPWOMEN ENTREPRENEURS PERSPECTIVES 2015-2020

    GTF Gender Task Force in the framework of a regional project Women Entre-preneurship: A Job Creation Engine for South East Europe, held the RegionalStrategic Conference & Workshop: WE Perspectives 2015 2020 on Novem-ber 9-11, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Strategic Conference wasattended by representatives from governments, chambers of commerce ofB&H, entrepreneurs and women business associations representatives fromCroatia, Albania, B&H, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia, Turkey, Moldova andSerbia included in this project plus Bulgaria. Participants discussed the strate-gic visions for the future of women entrepreneurship. Womens Business Asso-ciation SHE-ERA which is one of the partners of the project Women Entrepre-neurship: A Job Creation Engine for South East Europe, was represented bySabrije Jagxhiu Zhubi, in this conference.

    BUSINESS TRAINING IN THE REGION OF PEJA HOW TO START A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS

    SHE-ERA, during 2014, beginning in March until November continued toprovide its services in the region of Peja within the project "Supporting WomenEntrepreneurs in Agriculture 2012 - 2015", where a total of 131 women andyoung girls have benefited and developed their business ideas. Women andgirls from the region of Peja, beside the great interest and dedication for thetraining, have shown high creativity within developed topics and have alsopromoted their natural food products toward rural development. Challengesfaced by these women during their business development are similar to women

    from other regions in Kosovo and include: lack of water, lack of land ownership,lack of equipment for land cultivation, lack of a secure market for product place-ment. During the year 2015, starting in February will continue the trainings forthe next five groups in this region.

    the President of the Republic of Kosovo and with the support of the Office of thePrime Minister and other partners among which is Women's Business Associa-tion SHE-ERA, on December 3 at the GIZ office in Pristina was held thesucceeding meeting on the importance of promoting the common propertyregistration.     THE INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF THE TRACTOR DONATION TO WOMEN FROMTHE VILLAGE OF BEC

    On December 15, 2014 in the village of Bec, the municipality of Gjakova washeld the tractor donation ceremony to 25 women beneficiaries of the WomensBusiness Association SHE-ERA. In this ceremony organized by SHE-ERAparticipated the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands Mr.Bosch, The

    Ambassador of Albania, Mr.Mixhozi, the Director of the Department of Agricul-ture, Forestry and Rural Development from the Municipality of Gjakova,Mr.Ermeni and women beneficiaries of the region. During the training offered by

    the SHE-ERA staff within the project Supporting Women Entrepreneurs in Agriculture 2012-2015 supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmarkhave been identified the needs and challenges faced by women entrepreneursin agriculture. This project has been prepared and implemented by SHE-ERA,and was supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Prishtina.The tractor which will be available to use by women beneficiaries will have ausage schedule for which each beneficiary will share equal rights.     GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK (GEW)

    Global Entrepreneurship Week, a global event was organized for the secondtime in Kosovo during the week of November 17-23 under the patronage of thePresident of Kosovo, Her Excellency Mrs.Atifete Jahjaga. One of the GEWpartners was Women's Business Association SHE-ERA which after selectingMrs.Mirlinda Kusari-Purrini as the Kosovo Ambassador for Women's Entrepre-neurship Day Kosovo organized the event within the GEW. On the sixth day (22of November) GEW was organized in Gjakova with a reception from the JICstaff where also participated the Mayor of Gjakova - Mrs. Mimoza Kusari-Lila

The meeting started at the BONEVETcenter - which is a space where children are encouraged to express theirtalents and who presented some of their work during the meeting. The daycontinued in a working lunch at "Hani i Harais" and then took place the Entre-preneurship Workshop organized by Jakova Innovation Centre and NGO"SHE-ERA".     THE LINK FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS IN AGRICULTURESHE-ERA has converted its internet web page into an effective tool through which it will enable its members to promote their workand to set up collaborations with different local and international actors, the business community, development partners and network-ing among the SHE-ERA members and women entrepreneurs from other countries.In the web page has been created the database of SHE-ERA partners (http://www.she-era.org/antaret.php) and for Women Entre-preneurs in Agriculture (http://www.sheera.org/mod.php?mid=31) , where are included the data of women farmers which areupdated monthly. Through this link, women in agriculture will greatly benefit toward the project realization process, and their entrepre-neurial capacities as women entrepreneurs will be emphasized through access with cooperation opportunities with local programsand international agencies focused on women economic empowerment.
