It would be quite easy for us to ramble on, in a rather too en. thusiastic manner, about Randy Hague, Gretchen Dahms. .. . dammit! We will. .. briefly. Thesetwo girls, along with Sally Ackermanand Joan Bassie,pas. sibly had the hardest nine days of their entire working life during the courseof the Show.For the crowdswere just incredible. During the first weekend,the weatherin NewYork was beautifully spring-like,andout the dear peoplecamefrom their winter hiberna. tion - bless 'em! So manyin fact, that the Fire Departmentwas forced to closethe doorsof the Coliseumon severaloccasions. But our girls on the Triumph Stand were just magnificent. .. pretty, poised. . . and aboveall, patient. Theyhandedout literally thousandsof the new four.color brochures,answeredhundredsof questions. . . on overseasdelivery of a newTriumph,"what does IRSmean.. .?" . . . on the availability of their respectivetelephone numbers,which is par for the courseat autoshows: .. on prices, delivery dates, and so on. Unquestionably, the Triumph~tand wasone of the busiest - if not the busiest - at the Show.And to be brutally frank,the attraction wasnot Randy,or Gretchen,or Sally. . . or evenJoan.Ratherthe '4AandSPITFIREMk2. Triumph's display people had produceda striking exhibit, which ~ 1e.ajllLILlL.a '4A- indeJlend.ellLreat susoension unit actuated bv an - electric motor, so that its inherent features were dramatically emphasized.. . and Sally and Joantaking turns with a hand mike, informing the crowdsof the cars' brandnew features. Oneof the GTSPITFIREShad beentransportedup from Sebring, andwasprominentlydisplayedon its owndais. A record-breakingShow.. . an incredibleamountof genuineinterest in the Triumph line. . . Triumph receiving the Award for being voted 'Best GT / Sports Car - Under$2500' by the readersof CAR andDRIVERmagazine.. . the SPITFIRE 'copped'this with ease. ..
