EARLY STAGE 1 (KINDERGARTEN) NEWS Mrs Nimmo organised a fabulous Infants’ Sports Day! Thank you to our families and friends who came along to support the children and join in the fun on the day. Thank you to Mr & Mrs Carmody who helped to secure our shade shelters when the breeze picked up. I hope everyone has had a look at the photos of the day on our school Facebook page. It was lovely to see all students participating and having fun.

Kindergarten have enjoyed working with Mrs Tuyl over Term 3. We have learnt new songs and dances and we performed beautifully at the Performance Assembly last week. Holidays are approaching and we are all ready for a good break. Reading over the holidays is a good way to relax… and keep up our skills. Please let your child’s teacher know if you’d like some extra readers over the holiday. We hope all our families enjoy the break and come back ready for the final term of Kindergarten.

End of Term We are almost to the end of our 3

rd term at

school- one more to go for 2019! It is truly amazing to walk into any of the Stage 1 classrooms, pick out any of the students’ workbooks- whether it be literacy, maths or another subject, and see the improvement made since the beginning of the year. I hope our students realise what a wonderful effort they are demonstrating with their learning! I also enjoy walking into their rooms- full of colour and happiness, and witnessing the positive student engagement on show. Well done to our Stage 1 students, and well done to their teachers! The teachers and I wish you a restful and restorative break and hope that you enjoy some quality time with your families that include fun, activity and very importantly for our children too, rest. Just in case, I have included some websites to provide ideas for activities in the holidays. http://www.beafunmum.com/2011/06/100-school-holiday-activity-ideas/ https://www.stayathomemum.com.au/my-kids/activities/50-cheap-school-holiday-activities/ https://www.kidspot.com.au/school/school-

Champion Scott adores the slushy soccer pitch

Suspense flows through him, soon he tumbles His ball control needs some work

Scott soon hears the crowd rumbles

The fateful time won’t leave his mind Scott’s career is almost to an end His coach is utterly disappointed This incident isn’t going to mend

After the ball smashes the net Scott is puzzled after he hears the roar

He doesn’t want to think the worst Then soon knows the other team has scored

Scott’s team smells a dark defeat This one goes down in the books

The wooden spoon had been gifted The other team declares them as sooks

James the Cricketer James walks on the field for the first time

Ready to smash the ball But he’s never played before

And he fell on the floor Although he didn’t get any runs

He had tremendous fun After school James practised for hours

Nothing could stop him, not even the sun It comes to Saturday, its game day

James was surely ready The ball was speeding straight at him

James stares at the ball, his feet steady Bang!! James hits a massive six James continues this all day long

The rep team keep spectating It’s like James has strength of King Kong

JUNIOR AECG

Pathway Awards Two of our ATSI students attended a special award evening on Wednesday, 11

th

September, at Maitland Grossman High School. The Pathway Awards, or now known as the “Wanay Kuwaykuway” Awards are held annually to recognise the achievements of our ATSI students. “Wanay Kuwaykuway” means “proud child/children” in the Wonnarua language.

On the night, Patrick and Gracie received an Education and Leadership Award along with a book. Unfortunately Georgia and Chayse were unable to attend however, they received their award and book at school during an assembly. Congratulations to all of our students!

New Leaders for 2020 Nominating for executive positions for our Junior

AECG was tabled at our meeting, held last week.

Quite a few students attended the meeting and

heard about our proposed yarning circle to be

constructed in the playground. The meeting also

discussed holding a workshop to devise a name

for our yarning circle. Students were also invited

to be involved in developing a “Wonnarua Word-a

-Week” program, that may be implemented

across the school in 2020. The meetings are held

at least once a term. All ATSI and non-ATSI

students are welcome to attend and participate.

There’s Nothing Like Australia… From a giant sturdy rock

To the beautiful ancient art Endless twisted coral

And wind zooming like a dart

From the deadly sandy deserts To the mountains with a sunrise scene,

Slow and steady goes the ocean, And the beaches are always clean.

The Storm The storm continues,

The wind blows. When will it stop? God knows.

Raining pouring down, over my head, While I just wait here, safe in bed.

The ballad of the gymnast Young Chloe the flexible gymnast Stretching on the hard wood floor

Getting ready for the show Right out the blue and pink door

Now she is doing cartwheels To her mother’s white car She is looking in the boot

For her long silver bar

Chloe puts on her leotard And her pretty blue bow

Going to the big bright stage Ready for the big show

She does a big arial And lands perfectly on her feet

Now she is doing a routine And dancing to the loud beat

The gymnast gets of the stage The show is well and truly done

Chloe goes home and rests in her bed The thought hit her that gym is fun

P&C NEWS

Wow, another Term over and only one more to go for 2019! Thank you to all of our parents, family members and wider community members who have helped out in Term 3 with our fundraisers, events and general running of the P&C. As always, our wonderful school P&C does not happen without the help of so many volunteers. In Term 4 we have some more lovely events to look forward to. Our biggest event will be the annual Christmas Carols by Torchlight on Thursday 28

th November (Week 7) at 6pm on the

school grounds. We will be asking for volunteers to assist on the night closer to the date. You can all help in many different ways, including setting up and packing up, help run stalls, cooking the BBQ or ticket sales at the gate. Spread the word that the date has been set and for all of our wonderful community members to come along on the night for a great family occasion (and an appearance by a special guest!). The current projects we are working on and applying for grant money to fund for the rest of the year include an electronic sign for the front of the school (this is a big project and requires a large grant so cross your fingers!), the early stages of developing a sensory garden idea for the playground, purchasing some new seating for parents and visitors during assemblies and performances, and individual online training for all students to receive their digital citizenship and be cyber smart online. Key dates coming up: Next P&C Meeting – Monday 28

th October

(Week 3) 6:00pm in the school library. Kindergarten Orientation Welcome Morning

Tea – Friday 15th November (location and

time to be confirmed). Carols by Torchlight – Thursday 28

th

November (Week 7) at 6:00pm on the school grounds.

To get in touch or keep up to date with the P&C

like our Facebook page, read the school

newsletter, talk to P&C members, email the

address below, help at an event or come along to

the next meeting. Thank you for your support

Branxton Public School families.
