Classes 2018
We have begun the process of planning for next year. It will be greatly appreciated if you can
please let us know, as a matter of urgency, if your child will not be at Gladesville next year.
Furthermore, if you know that your child will be absent when school returns next year, please
contact the school (9817-2388 or [email protected]), so we can make
appropriate plans.
Talent Quest Auditions
Auditions for the GPS Talent Quest will continue this week. All auditions will take place
during lunchtime on the following dates:
* Year 3 & 4 - Tuesday 21 November
* Year 5 & 6 - Tuesday 28 November
Our Talent Quest will be held on Friday 15 December.
Staffing News
It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that one of our former teachers, Mrs Perera, passed
away last week. Mrs Perera worked at Gladesville for a number of years and was much loved by the
school community. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning at Holy Spirit Church,
North Ryde at 10.15am.
Mrs Chan is a proud new mum of a beautiful little girl, Millie Grace.
Mrs Clark has informed me that she has accepted a teaching position at MLC for 2018. She has
made an outstanding contribution to our school in her role as Relieving Assistant Principal
supervising Early Stage One. She has worked brilliantly with our Kindergarten staff and will be
greatly missed at Gladesville. Mr Little will also be leaving in 2018 to accept a role at Belmore South PS. Mr Little has been greatly involved in the coordination of sport programs at Gladesville as well as being the Ryde Zone Football Convener. His presence will also be a great loss to our school.
Gelato Day
Gelato Day will be held this week, to the delight of all students. Once again, our fabulous parent
volunteers will donate their time to provide our students with delicipous treats. Students will
have the opportunity to purchase strawberry, mango, chocolate and vanilla gelato with prices
ranging from $3 for one scoop and $5 for two scoops. Iceblocks may also be purchased for $2
as an alternative. Students in Years 3-6 may make purchases on Thursday while K-2 students
can buy gelato on Friday. Any surplus gelato will be served on Friday afternoon from 2.45pm.
Colour Run
The SRC will be holding our first Colour Run this Thursday on the school oval. All students are
asked to wear an old white shirt, old shorts and sport shoes on this day as well as bringing an old
towel to school. The event will run from 11.30am - 3.10pm with students asked to contribute $2 to
cover the cost of the event. it is also important that all students apply sunscreen before the event

Twilight Markets
Special thanks to all the parents and community members who turned up and enjoyed our
recent Twilight Markets. This was the first occasion that we had run an evening market for
adults only and it proved to be a very successful evening, with large numbers happy to eat
some magnificent food, enjoy a refreshing drink, socialise and purchase some unique gifts. A
big thank you to our wonderful organising team led by Janine Ligato and Costanza Mesiti for
coordinating a very enjoyable event.
Deloitte's Impact Day
Special thanks to one of our parents, Ben Newman, for recently arranging for twenty
Deloittes staff to visit our school on Friday and carry out essential maintenance work on our
grounds. The team weeded, cleared areas between the oval and the fence and tidied sport
storage areas. Thanks also to Paddy for being masterchef on the day and cooking a bbq
lunch for the volunteers.
