"Hanging out in the walk-in-fridge was the best!"
"I really enjoyed cooking for each other – we got to cook our own meals."
"I enjoyed archery, bike riding and rock wall climbing."
"I enjoyed the company – I liked spending time with people."
"Team building activities were super fun!"
Diary Dates-
Dear Parents and Friends,
The love of God doesn’t really fit a box. It certainly doesn’t fit in a box and it can’t be made to fit someone’s
expectation or point of view. The Bible describes this love as:
Extravagant
Immense
Excessive
Unconditional
Abundant
Indescribable
Jesus described the love of God through parables and also explicitly through the life He lived. It’s a love that
ignores the ‘rules’ of society and culture and pushes past what is seen to be ‘right’ or ‘proper’. The Father’s love
sees Him hitch up the hem of His robes and run to greet His long lost son, regardless of how that son has
treated Him. It’s a love that stretches past reputation and class, reaching out to the hurting, the broken, the
damaged and the lost and invites them into His presence to dine at His table. It’s a love that notices the pain and
the person behind the outward behaviour and, in a world where everyone would throw stones, He offers
forgiveness. It’s a love that smashes the veil that separated us from Him by doing whatever it takes- to the point
of dying on the Cross in our place.
No wonder it’s so hard to describe. No wonder it’s so hard to accept. This love can’t be described or placed in a
box. It’s counter-cultural, it’s ground-breaking; it is the simple gospel.
Each day, hundreds of children come into Marrara with their own stories and hundreds of children hear the story
of the God who loves them unconditionally, extravagantly and abundantly. We pray that this hearing will become
understanding; the understanding that this love gives them - and us - direct access into His presence which brings
everlasting joy and eternal life.
Every day is a challenge to love one another the same way we are loved by our God, with a love that is
unconditional, abundant and ultimately transformational.
Blessings,
Joanne Rheinberger - Head of Primary School

Meet Our Prefects
CALEB SCHATZ
Hello! My name is Jemima Fernandes and I am honoured to be serving the College for the second year in a row as a prefect! I am in Year 11, and this is my sixth year attending Marrara Christian College.
Some of my interests include listening to, learning and performing all kinds of music, reading good books and watching crime shows.I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends. I love to learn and share the Good News about Jesus!
My goal as a prefect this year would be to build relationships throughout the school! I believe that the prefect team plays an important role in this, and I hope that we fulfil this goal!
JEMIMA FERNANDES
Hi, my name is Caleb Schatz and I’m a Year 10 prefect.
I’m interested in playing AFL, hanging with friends and going to church and youth group.
I joined the prefect body so I can help build community, serve others and build leadership skills.
Hi!
I’m Jessica and I am one of the Year 11 prefects for this year. I have been at Marrara since Year 1. I wanted to be a prefect because I wanted to bring our school community closer together and I wanted to serve our community.
I hope to see you around school. Don’t be afraid to say hello or if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here.
God Bless!

KATRINA MCKEOUGH
Hi! My name is Katrina and I graduated from NT Christian College in 2016.
After a year of studying Medical Laboratory Science, I decided to switch courses and am now studying Chemical Engineering at James Cook University in Townsville.
I was also employed by a local commercial water analysis laboratory after completing a work placement there early last year, and am working in the chemistry and microbiology sections while I study.
I still miss the Territory (and, even more so, the people there), but North Queensland has its charms and I’m really enjoying all the opportunities here at my university to connect with new people!

School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives a Regular Savers Contribution of $5 for every 10 deposits processed per student as well as an Annual Contribution which is based on the number of students who made at least one School Banking deposit in the prior year.
If your child has lost their book, they can bring their money to school in a sealed envelope with a note on the next School Banking day. We will issue them with a replacement.
Thank you for supporting the School Banking program at Marrara Christian College. In 2017, this program raised $485 for the College and now everyone is enjoying our fishtank in the Front Office!
If you would like to know more about School Banking, please ask for a 2018 School Banking program information pack from the school office or visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking
