Respectful, Responsible, Safe and Kind Learners
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! The Foundation students performed for families and friends last Friday. It surely cemented the magic of Christmas at our school. Thank you Mrs. Primmer, Ms Bannam, Beth, Mel and Karen for all your support and encouragement of our children.
2017 We have had a fantastic year at Portarlington Primary. Our work was acknowledged through the Report of the independent School Reviewer, Mandy Dunn who congratulated us on the learning achievement and learning growth of our children. Our curriculum processes and documentation was reviewed and we are proud to be delivering the Victorian F-10 curriculum effectively for all of our students. Thank you to the staff, the children, the school council and the parent focus groups who contributed to the feedback that informed our school review process. Our facilities have gradually taken shape over the past year. We will now have the physical environment to match our teaching and learning programs and instructional practice. Staffing We would like to say a fond farewell to Katlyn Marchbank who is temporarily moving to Warrnambool as her hubby Matt has been posted to a new position with the fire brigade. We wish Katlyn and Matt every success for 2018 and look forward to Katlyn returning to Portarlington Primary in the future. We welcome Michael Campbell who is coming to us from Tarneit P-9 College. Janine Elias (speech pathologist) has been part of the Department of Education restructure process for Student Support Services Officers. Janine will be working full-time in the Geelong North Network of Schools. We would like to thank Janine for the commitment and professionalism that she has shown to our children, staff and to our families. We welcome Melissa Edwards to our school as our new speech therapist . Melissa will be on site at Portarlington PS for 2 days per week. Melissa will continue to strengthen our speech therapy program and provide valuable to support for our children, parents and our staff.
