Term 1 Week 6

Friday, 9th March, 2018 Newsletter From the Principal

WELLBEING WEEK

We hope that you enjoyed our Wellbeing Week initiative this week. In a world where we

know that society is living with higher stress and anxiety levels, we feel that this is a way

for families to enjoy some rest and relax a little. I know that the staff certainly enjoyed

having fewer meetings which meant more family time for them too. We are officially at

the halfway point for Term 1 and we congratulate our students on their hard work as they

have been trying their hardest each and every day.

NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST BULLYING & VIOLENCE

Next week, our school, as well as other schools in Australia, will

stand united to celebrate the National Day of Action Against

Bullying & Violence. On this day, we will reiterate the anti-bullying

message with our students and ask students to imagine a world free of bullying. This is a

positive day of action to help find workable solutions that address bullying and violence.

Bullying is not OK and any incidents of it should be reported to our staff.

P&C UPDATE

Our Annual General Meeting was held on Monday night and I would like to announce our

P&C Executive: President—Peter McWaters; Treasurer—Christine Burrell; Secretary—

Leanne Shepherd. Thank you Peter, Christine and Leanne for offering to fill these roles for

another year. We are on the look-out for new P&C members as our active P&C members

and organisers now have children in years 5 and 6, meaning their time on the P&C is

limited. Our treasurer, Christine, no longer has children at PWPS but has kindly accepted

the position of Treasurer until a replacement can be found.

FROM THE OFFICE…

Term 1 invoices have now been distributed. Thank you to so many of you who have either

paid in full or started making payments towards invoices. Please ensure that you have

made payment for excursions before the event to ensure your children can attend these

experiences. If you require financial support and wish to apply for a payment plan, please

ask at the office. We would hate for students to miss out on these opportunities for

financial reasons. Online payments are still the preferred method for payment.

Have a great fortnight,

Tanya Sarafoski

Poetry Corner Stg 3 Stage 3 has started Term 1 with a Geography topic called Bushfires.

Here’s a poem to accompany Vienne’s painting done with a sponge.

Engulfed Fire’s roaring,

Fire’s screaming.

The house that was once a beautiful maze,

Is now burning hot under a smoky haze.

What was once luscious green lawn,

Is now a carpet of muddy mess.

The street was flooded with reporters,

With fire engines racing down it.

People being pulled out of the fiery house,

Sirens as white noise in the background,

Chaos!

Babies crying, people screaming,

Drowned out by the crackling and roar of the fire.

In the aftermath all that is left,

Is the silhouetted skeleton of the house,

And the bones, ashes and memories of the family,

That once lived there.

It was engulfed by the hot mess of fire,

Swallowed by the flames—

So were the lives,

Because of one spark.
