Five of our children had an amazing opportunity when they were invited to France as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations between Bristol and Bordeaux. The opportunity was given to those children who participated in the ‘Bristol Together’ football partnership from last year, when we teamed up with other schools from around the city for training and matches. The visit included a welcome at the Bordeaux Mairie, the Acro Adventure Parc at Mérignac, a tour of Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux and an open bus tour of the city. The children were fantastic ambassadors for not only the school, but the City of Bristol. Thank you to Mr. Cave for taking the children and the parents for allowing us to take their children so far away for a few days! A great experience. WHERE LEARNING IS AN ADVENTURE OCTOBER 2017

2

25 YEARS!

We were very pleased to present Mrs. Lewis with her 25 year certificate and gift last month. She originally worked for a few years at Brislington Secondary School (as it was called then) before starting here as a Teaching Assistant (in Mr. Hughes’ class!). She has never looked back, providing a friendly and knowledgeable face to everyone coming to the school reception.

Let’s see what she gets for her 50 years service in a few years time!

Parking

We continue to have some problems with cars obstructing our neighbours when you are dropping off/collecting children. Whilst the Police are proactive and do book vehicles, it can be extremely inconvenient to those living around us and we would ask you park sensibly and with consideration for others.

Parent’s Evening

You can now book your appointment online- please see your teacher if you have forgotten your details or are having trouble logging in.

Vacancy

We have a vacancy for a playworker each morning between 7.45 and 9.15 to supervise the children in our breakfast club as it is proving to be extremely popular. Additional hours may also be available in the after-school club and holiday clubs as required. Please see the office for details.

Premier League Primary Stars Kit

We are celebrating after being awarded a Premier League Primary Stars kit and equipment pack.

The Kit and Equipment Scheme forms part of the Premier League Primary Stars offer to primary schools in England and Wales. This is a curriculum-linked education programme that uses the appeal of the Premier League and its clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.

Delivered by the Football Foundation, the Premier League Primary Stars Kit and Equipment Scheme gives teachers a range of equipment that can be used across different curriculum areas to get children active.

Thanks to Mr. Evans for applying for the equipment.

Winter menu The new menu, starting

after the October break, has been finalised and is

currently being printed.

There are some traditional favourites, but we also have

new options such as ‘cowboy casserole’, ‘cornish pasty pie’ and ‘chocolate &

mandarin cake’ added.

Yum.

The new menu will be given out as a hard copy in the next couple of weeks, as well as being available on

the website.

We have a number of census points during the school year that have a HUGE impact on our school budget. Our next census is on 5th October, with one of the measures being take-up of school meals.

In order to get as many children having lunch as possible we have SWAPPED the Thursday and Friday menu, with the ever popular fish fingers, chips and beans on the Thursday!

Please help us by requesting a meal for your child on the census day (paid or free meal) as it makes a difference to us, especially as the budget is under pressure due to central government cuts.
