MORNINGTON SPECIAL DEVELOPMENTAL SCHOOL Independence Through Learning Newsleer No: 5 24th April 2015 PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Independence Through Learning March—Andrew Sammi Jarod April— Jemma Cameron DATES TO REMEMBER 25th April—Anzac Day 28th April—Music Viva In- cursion 26th June End of term 2 We are lucky enough to be having Ogham Soup come to our school on Tuesday 28 th April to play two performances, one for Juniors and one for Seniors. The band features our very own Jason Day from Mu- sica Viva. The students have been working towards the performance, learning about folk music and folk dancing. Everyone is very excited. Parents are welcome to aend the performances, with the Junior performance from 9:30-10:30 and the Senior performance from 11:00-12:00. There is no cost for these performances. Welcome Back Everyone to Term 2, 2015 I hope you all enjoyed the holiday break. How could you not with weather so beauful. Bus Transport Safety This is a reminder to all parents who use the School bus service. Parents are required to let the school and Westernport Road Lines know ahead of me and in wring if an adult other than the parent will be picking up a student from a pre- arranged bus drop off point in the aſternoon OR meeng the student at the home address. If there are two or three different adults picking up a student from the nominated bus drop off point, then all adults must be listed on the permission form. The school and the Chaper- one have a duty of care to ensure the safety of all students travelling on the bus and they need to know who it is that will be meeng the bus when students return home each aſternoon. If you would like your child to walk to and from a nominated bus pick up/drop off point, you also need to complete a permission form stang this. I have included the two forms with this newsleer so that you can update us with your preferred arrangements. Anzac Day This week, students have been listening to stories and parcipang in acvies in remembrance of those who gave their life to defend their country. We will be having a special Anzac Day school assem- bly on Friday 24 th April at 1.45 pm. Students will raise the flag during the Reveille and lay wreaths. We are lucky enough to be having Ogham Soup come to our school

This week we welcomed back Tyson, Lachlan, Charlie, Harley and Bailey to rooms 3 & 4.

Last term we had fun...

Learning how coins look bigger through the

bottom of a glass of water in science.

Going on community access to the Mornington library

Making spaghetti in class cooking lessons and painting with Jelly

Learning about sharks and making dioramas of sea life

Special Events:

In February Bailey celebrated his 12th Birthday.

We all got a lovely surprise when bailey’s family

came to visit and brought cake for everyone!
