Year of Mercy – The Corporal Works of Mercy are found in the teachings of Jesus and give us a model for how we should treat all others, as if they were Christ in disguise. Feed the Hungry

There are many people in this world who go without food. When so much of our food goes to waste, consider how good stewardship practices of your own food habits can benefit others who do not have those same resources.

Donate to a Thanks Food Drive so everyone can have something to eat.

Research, identify and contribute to organizations that serve the hungry.

The next time you make a recipe that can be easily frozen, make a double batch and donate one to your local food pantry or soup kitchen.

Try not to purchase more food than you are able to eat. If you notice that you end up throwing groceries away each week, purchasing less groceries would eliminate waste and allow you to donate the savings to those in need.

Come along and enjoy our Spring Fair this Sunday 16th October from 11am to 2pm. This is always a great community day and a wonderful way to begin our last term of the year. We would like to

say a huge thank you to all those who have put a great deal of time and energy into organising this day.

School Production “Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies”

Tickets are now on sale and selling fast so don’t miss out! They can be purchased from the school office. The production will take place at the Memorial Theatre, Victoria University Kelburn Campus on Wednesday 19

th October at

7pm and Thursday 20th October at 7pm. Tickets are $16:00 each. There will be a Matinee (Dress Rehearsal) session

on Wednesday 19th at approx. 12:30pm. This is ideal for younger siblings to attend. The charge for the matinee is a

koha (donation). Tickets are not required for the dress rehearsal. Children need to be at the theatre by 6:30pm (unless told otherwise by their teacher). The doors to the auditorium do not open until 6:30pm. Children should be delivered to the lounge area at the back of the theatre. This meeting area will already have been shown to them during the day on Wednesday so that they know where to meet their teacher. Children may want to bring a named water bottle with them and a snack to eat. We do not want any children to be leaving this area to get a drink. At the end of the show the children will be taken back to the lounge area and then parents are asked to come to the door to collect them from the class teachers. We ask that parents do not come into the lounge area as it can become quite hectic and we need to mark children off as they are picked up. We understand that this can mean a bit of waiting but ask you to bear with us as it is the safety of the children that is paramount and the University is open to the public while we are there. We need to know that each child is accounted for. We are really looking forward to performing this show for you next week.

Over the term break, our solar panels generated 209 kWh of solar energy. This is almost the same amount that was generated in all of June. Our school page can be viewed by clicking on the St Benedict’s School Schoolgen link: http://schoolgen.co.nz/schoolgen-schools/st-benedicts-school.

Kind regards, Dave Lamont, Principal
