Season of Prayer for State Missions
and Janie Chapman Offering.
Sweetwater’s Goal: $3,000.00
“As South Carolina Baptists, may we be an example to those in
our state. In a time when people are consumed by the things of
this world that often tell them they are not important and they do
not matter, may we show them that they are loved and that they
are deeply valued by God. May they know that they are indeed

“PASTOR PAUL’S PARAGRAPHS”
Dear Members and Friends of the Sweetwater Baptist Church:
Blessings!! As fall approaches so does football season. Football is a team sport that requires coopera-
tion, support, and enthusiasm. In the same manner the church is a team working together for the Kingdom of
God. On September 1st we will begin a new church year. I want to personally say “thank you” to everyone
who has agreed to serve as a teacher, director, committee member, worker, and volunteer. Your service to the
Sweetwater Baptist Church and the Lord Jesus Christ is greatly appreciated. It is going to be an awesome
year!!
We love missions here at Sweetwater! September is traditionally the time of year that we focus on state
missions. Our Janie Chapman State Mission Offering goal this year is $3,000. This offering helps to sup-
port the work and ministry of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Our state mission study will be on
Wednesday evening, September 24th, in the sanctuary. Also, Dr. Jim Austin, the Executive-Director of the
South Carolina Baptist Convention, will be speaking in the morning worship services on September 28th.
We are blessed and fortunate to have him with us for this special service. Please, pray about what God would
have you to give towards the Janie Chapman offering this year to support the work of South Carolina Bap-
tists.
Speaking of missions, our Romanian Mission trip will be during the dates of November 3-13. The cost
of the trip is $1,895.00. If you are interested in going, please see me or Mrs. Linda Gillespie for more infor-
mation. Rev. Jesse Powers has asked our church to minister in Olt County, Romania this year. Oltenia
County (Province) is the poorest area in the entire country of Romania. We will be working with Raul Costea
of “Hope 4 The World.” His website is www.bisericasperanta.ro. The people there are in desperate need
of the gospel and barnyard animals. The animals allow them to continue to have a food supply even after our
team departs. Brother Costea’s program is called “A Fishing Rod and Not a Fish.” In this newsletter you
will find a form that gives more information concerning this important project. I want to challenge Sunday
School classes, families, and individuals to prayerfully consider purchasing an animal(s) to help the Romani-
an people. We will deliver the money to purchase these animals when we arrive in November. Thanks for
helping us to fill an ARK for the Romanian people.
Congratulations to Carl Boulware, Jim Crawford, Robert Ratcliff, and Jim Wilmoth who were elected
to serve as a deacon on August 20th. We are grateful for the willingness of these men to serve in this very im-
portant capacity. Please, remember to pray for your staff, deacons, leaders, and church family on a daily ba-
sis.
It is a joy and a privilege to serve you!!
With a Pastor’s Love,
Brother Paul Philippians 1:3
