Old Scholars Newsletter - May 2019 BOARDERS “STASH” FOUND AFTER 55 YEARS These items were found under the floorboards in the Law Smith Building. The coke can is circa 1963 Miss Baddams would certainly have not been happyHowever, if you are the owner of these items, or know the story behind the stash, please share this with the Association, hopefully we can report in the next newsletter the facts behind the clandestine pantry! ST PETER’S WOODLANDS TURNS 20 In February 1999 students walked through the gates at 39 Partridge Street Glenelg for the first time to a new school named St Peter’s Woodlands. A new generation to proudly carry on the traditions, values and history of the two schools, Woodlands and St Peter’s Glenelg, into the future. How time flies! When driving past the school it is obvious the grounds are immaculate. Walk through the gates and you immediately sense Woodlands history everywhere, the Law Smith, Gillam, Millington buildings and the Margaret McKenzie oval and more, still bear the same names, all in the Shadow of St Margaret’s Chapel and the wonderful Moreton Bay fig tree. Retaining the History has not impaired the vast improvements that now sustain SPW as a leader in Early Learning and Primary Education. Thanks to the two SPW consecutive Principals Roger Taylor and Christopher Prance for their custodianship, management and care of what all Woodlands and SPW Old Scholar’s consider to be their own. Keeping in touch – receive emails, news and notifications of reunions IMPORTANT : EMAIL ADDRESSES REQUIRED! Please provide /update your email addresses to: [email protected] As SPW marks its 20th Anniversary, part of celebrating who we are, is remembering our history. As a prominent feature of the school campus and the venue for much school worship, St Margaret’s Chapel holds a central place. In view of this, we invited the Rev Stuart Langshaw, the last Chaplain of Woodlands (1982-1998), to come and share some of the history of the Coat of Arms and stained glass windows in the Chapel. It was he who commissioned these in 1996 as a gift from the Woodlands Year 12 class 96.
