Dear Parents and Guardians, Athletics Carnival I was very proud of all our students for their participation in the Athletics Carnival last Wednesday. Great sportsmanship was shown and all students I spoke with had a fantastic day. The great weather made it even better. Congratulations to Dolphins for again winning the Carnival. Well done to the students who won Champion or Runner-up medallions for their performances. A full list of key results is available later in this newsletter. It was great to see the large number of parents, grandparents and other family members attend to support the children. Our P&C did a fantastic job, providing morning tea and lunches. Thanks to the many families who donated slices and cakes. I thank our staff who ensured the students were well prepared and organised. I would like to especially acknowledge the efforts of Mrs Rafferty and her able assistant Mrs Dhue for the overall organisation of the Carnival. Special thanks to the parents and staff who assisted with judging, jumps and throws and packing up on carnival day. Your assistance was greatly appreciated. We now look forward to the Interschool Athletics Carnival. Father’s Day Stall We wish all our fathers a great day on Sunday. I would like to thank our P&C and in particular Mrs Hammond and her great team of helpers for running the Father’s Day Stall today. I know some of our fathers have been spoilt in our classrooms this week. Year 6 Rotary Interschool Public Speaking Competition. On Monday, Marmion Primary School hosted the district final for this competition. I am very proud to announce that our student, Isabel Swann, won this competition. Her speech about the current drought in NSW was very compelling. Isabel will now compete in a metropolitan final to be held in a few weeks’ time. We wish her well for this event. Ian Herbert, PRINCIPAL
Congratulations Isabel

The Voice For the past few weeks Marmion students have been writing and rehearsing their speeches for our annual public speaking competition ‘The Voice’. Finalists were chosen from each class and the year level finals were held today. Each year our staff are blown away by the high standard of the competitors’ presentations, and this year was no exception! A special mention must be made of our Year Two students who participated in the competition for the first time. It was hard to believe the articulate, interesting and entertaining presenters up there were only seven or eight years old, they were all sensational! This finalists and overall champions for this year were: Year 2 Winner: Thomas Lodge. Finalists: Lula Blythe-Williams, Tyler Cliff, Fraser Dawson, Sylvie Martin, Eloise O’Leary Year 3 Winner : Luke Banks. Finalists: Jayden Burrell, Amelie Hoffman, Cara Kennedy Year 4 Winner : James Martin. Finalists: Emrys Fassom, Xander Fee, Isla Hoffman Year 5 Winner: Millie O’Leary. Finalists: Milana Artemov, Maddi Barber, Elsie Bourgault Year 6 Winner : Sam Almond. Finalists: Frazer Rickson, Jasmine Turney–Edwards A parent assembly will be held next Thursday 6 September. We invite all parents and interested community members to join us to listen to our fantastic winners’ speeches one last time and see our finalists receive their awards. Quiz Night Thank you to everyone who attended our P&C Quiz Night last Saturday Night. We all had a great night with lots of prizes to be won. Congratulations to all those that won on the night. And again a big thank you to our fabulous business sponsors, our amazing parents/guardians who donated items and to those that helped along the way to make this such an awesome night. Big congratulations to our winning team Never gonna Quiz you up! followed by The Quizzacally Challenged & Les Quizerables. The P&C raised $6,278.00 for this event. Note if you won a bottle of Champagne for one of the door prizes on the night and can't find it, I have put it in the front office for you. Thanks Marmion Primary from the Marmion Primary P&C
Canteen Corner Last Wednesday was our annual Sports Day. Thanks to the rain gods, we had fantastic weather and from all reports, a great day had by all. We certainly could not have achieved all that we did without the wonderful support of our families who donated baked goods and treats that were made available to students and families on the day; in addition all the families who supported the canteen by purchasing their lunches for students and family members. We’d like to acknowledge the wonderful efforts of Neisha Pirritt, Kate Francis and Stell Hoffman who made and wrapped all of the sushi for the event. They had a very early start to the day and had all orders delivered by morning tea time. What a great effort and what amazing tasting sushi they provided. Thanks also to committee who puts in a great deal of effort to make the process seem so seamless and make the day run so smoothly and the wonderful support of our staff, Linda and Lisa who kept the whole event running like clockwork.
