Dear Readers:
Orica Watercare recently appointedPSI as its representative in the NewYork Metro area, Long Island, andNorthern and Central New Jerseyareas. Well-known for its industry-leading DOC removal resin fordisinfection byproduct (DBP) control,Orica Watercare manufactures arange of innovative ion exchangeresins, custom-designed MIEX®Treatment Systems and packagedMAGNAPAK® Systems. The OricaMIEX® DOC removal resin is a highcapacity ion exchange resin with amagnetized component. Thismagnetic resin, when utilized withOrica’s unique continuous ionexchange process offers waterutilities a highly effective DOCremoval process, capable ofachieving new DBP standards fordrinking water. MIEX® Resins areavailable for a variety of ion exchangeapplications. MIEX® Resin is NSFStandard 61 certified for use indrinking water systems. MIEX®treatment systems can be designedin all size ranges from small to large
MAGNAPAK® package systems tolarge municipal systems. A 14.5-MGD MIEX® system installed in PalmBeach County, Florida wascommissioned in 2012. The MIEX®DOC treatment process incorporatesspecially engineered processes fordosing, mixing, separating andregenerating the resin which providesa high level of treatment with minimalgeneration of wastes. The Orica
Enviropak® nitrate removal processutilizes a split resin bed to extendresin life and minimize generation ofbrine waste. Orica has special
expertise in pilot studies tocharacterize the raw water, testvarious modes and rates oftreatment, and determinecontaminant removals and finishedwater quality including simulateddistribution system (SDS) testing todetermine DBP levels in the finishedwater. Headworks BIO Inc. offers biological wastewatertreatment processes that can be used as secondarytreatment for a variety of municipal and industrialapplications. For over a decade, the Headworksteam has researched and developed wastewatertreatment systems and technology for moving bedprocesses, fixed-film wastewater treatment, andintegrated fixed-film activated sludge (IFAS)wastewater systems. The result of this in-depthresearch and development is our Moving Bed BiofilmReactor (MBBR) technology, a biological wastewatertreatment process, that can be adapted anddesigned for any application. With approximately 15years of experience in municipal and industrialapplications, Headworks BIO is one of the oldestMBBR/IFAS technology providers in the biologicalwastewater treatment sector.
The Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) web cast isavailable on line, it is titled “Innovative applications ofMBBR/IFAS for upgrades, Retrofits, and New BuildAround the World” The speakers are Siva Angappan,Director of Process Engineering & Technology ,Headworks BIO Inc. and Afnan Din, Vice Presidentand Process Manager for MENA . The HeadworksBIO Inc. Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) andIntegrated Fixed-Film Activated Sludge (IFAS)systems are being considered and implemented withincreasing frequency around the globe.

PSI present at NJWEA Winter Technology Transfer Seminar
Contact PSI for your MBBR Biological Wastewater Treatment Process needs
PSI Process and Equipment/Pumping Services, Inc.will be presenting at the Jersey Water EnvironmentAssociation 2013 Winter Technology Transfer SeminarMarch 4 - March 7, 2013 at the Sheraton Eatontown. The moderator is John Tobia, PE, Principal ProjectManager, CH2M HILL. The PSI presentation is titled“Multiple Rake Screens for Effective Debris Removal”will be presented by David J. Silverman, P.E.,Applications Engineer, PSI Process and Equipment.
This webcast will begin with a brief, general overviewof these two process technologies including thefundamental aspects of the systems, specificallymedia type, retention screens, aeration system, andkey design considerations. The presentation willcompare MBBR/IFAS technology againstconventional treatment methods and describecircumstances in which MBBR/IFAS systems arefeasible options to consider. Case studies will beused to illustrate innovative applications of thetechnology in municipal and industrial facilities aroundthe globe. Examples will include plant upgrades, retrofits, and new builds with supporting data. Thewebcast will conclude with a brief question andanswer session taken from participants during the liveevent.
