MONDAY 22ND JULY
TERM 2 WRAP UP!
Where has the time gone? We are now at the halfway point in the 2019 school
year!
2019 began with students embracing the challenges of learning. Students have
now had two very busy terms of learning, development and school life. During this
time, students have been able to settle into their new classroom environments,
understand new expectations and develop strong friendships and relationships to support their
learning.
Our teachers have also been hard at work to support your children, embarking on a Professional
Development journey focused on catering to all learners in the classroom through a lens on
differentiation. We would like to thank everyone for all of your hard work and efforts so far this year!
Although being an extremely large school, Magill has a great feeling of community and
connectedness. We have many wonderful events and celebrations that we recognise and
acknowledge. This term we held our first Colour Run organised by the Fundraising Committee, the
student led Year 6 Market Day as part of their Business and Economics study as well as our usual
Junior Primary and Primary Assemblies at our new 9:00am time slot. We hope to see many families at
our final end of term whole-school Assembly this Friday, where we can further celebrate and highlight
some of the wonderful things happening in our school.
Student reports will be coming home on Wednesday this week. If you wish to discuss your child’s
report, please make contact with your teacher to arrange a meeting time.
As Term 2 draws to a close, we would like to wish all families a
peaceful and relaxing holiday break. The two week break is an
ideal opportunity for students and teachers to recharge their
batteries and reflect on what they have achieved so far. We
wish all families a great holiday and look forward to seeing you
all again in Term 3.

The Governing Council are keen to receive your feedback, answer any questions and listen to your concerns. Governing Council Chairperson Jo Adler - [email protected]

Chinese Mother Tongue
一起来学母语课 Chinese Calligraphy
书法 Holding the brush and paper
This is the most basic and most important part when learning Chinese
calligraphy.
First, you should place the brush between your middle and ring finger, so that it
is resting evenly with 2 fingers on either side (by the way, this is how you should
hold the upper chopstick when eating).
Then use your thumb to stabilise the brush.
Finally, you should hold the brush vertically, so that it is always pointed in a
straight line at the sky. Your free hand should be on the paper at all times,
holding it steady as you write.
Let’s get started! 让我们一起来练习吧!
