HIT THE BULL’S EYE “PERFECT BODY
LANGUAGE FOR A PERFECT JOB INTERVIEW”
Leaning in isn't just a metaphorical way to get ahead. It's also a legitimate way to portray good body language during a job interview. Job interviews are notorious tightrope walks. You want to be confident, but not obnoxious; intelligent but not a know-it-all. Trying to find a balance and also explain why you deserve a job is hard enough. But what if your body language could help you out? Career experts have long analyzed body movement as a way to determine a person's character.
1. Sit all the way back in your seat. Sit firmly and lean your back straight against the chair. It's the first thing Glass recommends — an automatic signal of assurance and confidence. If you're a natural sloucher, pretend there's a string pulling you up from the crown of your head.
2. Don't go for direct eye contact. Instead, go for direct face contact. A more effective way to ensure you look interested and engaged is to look different parts of someone's face every two seconds, rotating from eyes, to nose, to lips, so you're never just drilling into the interviewer's eyes.
3. Use hand gestures while speaking. If you're not sure what to do with your hands, go ahead and gesture while speaking. When you’re really nervous, you tend to want to hide your hands because they express your anxiety. Keeping your hands hidden
can be misinterpreted as distrustful behaviour.
4. Show your palms. When your palms are up, it signals honesty and engagement. The limbic brain picks up the positivity, which will make the interviewer comfortable. It’s one of the reasons we shake hands, to show the open palm. It’s so tied to survival instincts ... If we don’t see open palm gestures, it puts us on our guard. In general, upward-facing body language, such as open palms, smiles and straight posture, also makes you look energetic.
5. Plant your feet on the ground. Keep feet firmly on the ground. Women should never cross at the knees, but rather the ankles, "as this allows them to switch if necessary without being obvious."
There's also a scientific benefit to keeping your feet grounded. It’s not impossible, but it’s difficult to answer highly complex questions unless both of your feet are on the ground. It has to do with being able to go back and forth easily between the limbic reptilian brains to the neo-cortex brain. In layman's terms, planted feet can help you go between creative thought and highly complex rational thought.
6. Work on your walk. Interviewers often make a hiring judgment within the first 10 seconds of meeting you. How you walk into the room is a part of that judgment. Shoulders pulled back and neck elongated, each stride should be roughly one to two feet wide. Walk directly towards the person you are meeting with every body part pointing in his direction, maintaining eye contact with occasional breaks to the side.
7. Breathe deeply, and speak on the exhale. One way to soothe interview nerves is to breathe properly. It is recommended to focus on the breath as a vital part of the interview process. Inhale when the interviewer asks you a question and then speaking on the exhale, following the air flow. Deep breathing engages our parasympathetic reaction, which calms us down. It is recommended taking 10 deep, diaphragmatic breaths before the interview, because it reduces our heart rate, blood pressure and stress hormone level.
8. Nod your head while listening. Aside from keeping eye and face contact, nodding your head while listening is an additional way to show attentiveness. Nod your head occasionally to let them know you are enjoying and understand what is being said.
9. Lean in. Leaning in is a natural thing to do when you're engaged in a conversation. Leaning slightly forward (keeping your shoulders back and down, and your chest high) demonstrates interest.
BONUS: For Phone Interviews... If you don't have the benefit of a face to face interview, it is recommended getting up and walking while on a phone interview. Much like planting your feet, it helps "sync the left and right hemisphere" of the brain, making your answers sharper.
"Your posture is an integral part of your nonverbal conversation."

B. E. – Mechanical
Selected in Reliance Industries
I would like to thank Rashmi ma'am for arranging the classes intended for the practice of aptitude and technical questions. I would like to extend my thanks to Hardik Charola sir who stood by my side during the long interview day sharing his useful tips on interviews. A big thanks to the H.O.D. of Mechanical Department, Prof. P. S. Puranik Sir, TPO Coordinator – Prof. Pranav Makwana Sir and to all the members of the Mechanical Engineering Department who helped me strengthen my technical skills. What really helped me in the interviews, both Technical and H.R. was the ability to remain calm and composed during the whole session and answering all the questions put up in front of me with confidence and the key to cracking those interviews was by speaking fluently in English language. I feel a bit relaxed now and happy to be placed in a really big organization like Reliance before the completion of my college education.

After my graduation I didn’t want to do masters. But my father advised me to do masters, so I joined the well-known reputed college of Rajkot “Atmiya institute of technology and science”. ATMIYA is a University where students are treated like a family and they provide best services with the participation of students in many activities. In my first semester I got four backlogs which shocked me and broken my confidence. I was in a situation that I loosed all my hopes and asked my father to join him helping in our business. I was deciding to quit my MBA but, my father, my faculties and my friends encouraged me and build my confidence. In that situation I was guided and motivated in such a way that I felt to continue my further studies with a bigger hope. In second semester I cleared my four backlogs with hard work and dedication and proved my efforts.
As I came from medium grades, but I got with the highest package in my college campus, so I want to say “knowledge have high value than getting high grades”.
After the completion of my third semester, Placement Activity started in my college. My faculties helped me a lot in improving my skills and I worked a lot where I was lacking. And I was selected in the first interview itself, which was of “EXIDE BATTERIES” and I was so much fortunate that I got selected in that with the package of 4 lakhs per annum.

HDFC Bank “Work until you
don’t need to introduce yourself”
This quote always inspires me to give my best shoot at every stage of my life. I believe and select the area where I don’t need to wear a watch to see the time in my work. And that area for me is finance because I am always attracted towards the numbers and there is always a fight of bull and bear in my dreams.
I started the journey from the campus of J.J.KUNDALIYA college at the graduation level And with the support and motivation of All faculty and Friends I learnt so many thing in my graduation journey but that was just a small step still there are miles to go. At the end of the 2nd year of Graduation I started to get ready for the entrance marathon of MBA and started Preparation for CMAT and finally cleared it with good score.
The biggest dilemma for me is now to take a decision regarding admission in MBA colleges. After doing the homework and scrutinizing various colleges I finally took admission at ATMIYA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE and I Now I am pleased to say that my decision was a Right decision.
I started MBA at ATMIYA and lived in an environment where I could Enhance the skills and could sharpen the swords of my knowledge. Then I entered the new phase of my life. The race of job started and out of 120 students, I was one of the fortunate students to get selected for the post of Virtual Relationship Manager at HDFC Bank.
Now at the end of MBA, my only desire is to fulfill the meaning of the above quote and to be successful in all terms. Learning is an incessant process and hence, I aim at improving myself at every leaps and bound wherever I can and also to become a good human being.

CAMPFIRE
MOTIVATIONAL STORY
“Think Before You Judge”
A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. He answered the call asap, changed his clothes and went directly to the surgery block. He found the boy’s father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor.
On seeing him, the father yelled, “Why did you take all this time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger? Don’t you have any sense of responsibility?”
The doctor smiled and said, “I am sorry, I wasn’t in the hospital and I came as fast as I could after receiving the call and now, I wish you’d calm down so that I can do my work”.
“Calm down?! What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies while waiting for doctor than what will you do??” said the father angrily. The doctor smiled again and replied, “We will do our best by God’s grace and
you should also pray for your son’s healthy life”.
“Giving advises when we’re not concerned is so easy” Murmured the father.
The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy, “Thank goodness! your son is saved!” And without waiting for the father’s reply he carried on his way running by saying, “If you have any questions, ask the nurse”.
“Why is he so arrogant? He couldn’t wait some minutes so that I ask about my son’s state” Commented the father when seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left. The nurse answered, tears coming down her face, “His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was at the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery. And now that he saved your son’s life, he left running to finish his son’s burial.”
Moral: Never judge anyone because you never know how their life is and what they’re going through.
“Boy’s Job Appraisal”
A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and pulled it over to the telephone. He climbed onto the carton so that he could reach the buttons on the phone and proceeded to punch in seven digits (phone numbers). The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation.
Boy: ‘Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
Woman: (at the other end of the phone line): ‘I already have someone to cut my lawn.’
Boy: ‘Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now.’
Woman: I’m very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.
Boy: (with more perseverance) : ‘Lady, I’ll even sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm beach , Florida.’
Woman: No, thank you.
With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.
Store Owner: ‘Son… I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job.’
Boy: ‘No thanks.’
Store Owner: But you were really pleading for one.
Boy: No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the Job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!’
Moral: This is what we call ‘Self-Appraisal’. Every time if we don’t get ahead of others, we blame others for it. We should look to our self and compare, find own weaknesses and work hard to throw away weaknesses. Always Work Hard, Honest and with full Dedication. It will always pay up.

If you have to pick three companies that take up most of your mindspace, I am sure you would plonk for The Big Three – Apple, Microsoft, and Google.
No three companies can be more different, but they affect our lives in the same way.
Microsoft, the oldest of the three, has the iron grip on desktop computing. Apple, next born, is about personal style thanks to iconic products like the Mac and the iPod. Google, the youngest, but arguably the most vivacious of the lot, has a finger in any pie that has to do with the internet (and beyond).
But how well do we know these three that are with us 24×7?
Every great company has a story behind its legend. Strange and interesting facts and anecdotes about behemoths such as these demonstrate that it’s not always about bits, bytes, multi-billion dollar revenues and lawsuits.
Interesting Facts about Google
The well-known “˜Don’t be evil’ is actually an informal motto of Google. It is a reference to their corporate philosophy which says that you can make money without being evil. It was coined by Paul Buchheit, the man behind Gmail.
Sergey Brin and Larry Page didn’t know too much about HTML. That’s why the first homepage had a very bare bones design. The simple design caused people to just sit there looking at the screen during initial tests. Test users were actually waiting for the “rest of the page to load”. To solve that particular problem the Google Copyright message was added as a line as an end of page marker.
Just so you know: “˜to google’
became a verb in 2006 when
both Merriam Webster
Collegiate Dictionary as well
as the Oxford English
Dictionary recognized it. It of
course means – to use the
Google search engine to
obtain information on the
Internet.
Users can search for content
in 35 non-English languages,
including Chinese, Greek,
Icelandic, Hebrew,
Hungarian and Estonian. To
date, no requests have been
received from beyond the
earth’s orbit, but Google has
a Klingon interface if they
decide to make contact one
day.
When Larry Page and Sergey Brin assembled their first server to test the PageRank code, they housed ten 4 Gigabyte HDD in a cabinet made of Lego bricks.
Google’s core search engine ranking system is called PageRank. Each page is assigned a rank that determines its ranking in the search engine results. But the term is not taken from its function; it’s actually named after Google co-founder Larry Page. In the early days it was called BackRub.
How much energy does a single Google Search take up? Google says it’s about 1KJ (Kilo Joules). In green terms, it’s approximately equal to .2g of CO2 emitted per search. See it compared against everyday activities.
Interesting Facts about Microsoft
The first Operation System Microsoft coded was Xenix, which was a version of UNIX under a different name. But it was MS-DOS made for IBM PCs that gave it a foothold in the software market.
Bill Gates wrote a class scheduling program for his school. He tweaked the program’s code so that he

was placed in classes with mostly female students.
Microsoft fashioned the use of code names for under-development software and systems. For instance, Windows 7 was “˜Vienna’. Wikipedia has a complete list.
Did you know that you can’t create a folder named “˜con’ in Windows?
The first Windows virus was called Winver 1.4.
The name of its search engine “˜Bing’ has its origins in Bingo. Just like the game, it was meant to suggest that something looked for has been found or realized. “˜Bang’ was also proposed because it was memorable, short, and easy to spell. Finally, Bing was chosen for the same reasons.
Ironically, Microsoft’s Macintosh Business Unit is one of the largest developers of Macintosh software outside of Apple Inc. Also, Microsoft Office for Mac was introduced for Macintosh in 1989, a year before Office was released for Windows.
Interesting Facts about Apple
Fortune magazine named Apple as the most admired company in the United States in 2008; and in the world in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
The original Apple logo had Isaac Newton sitting under an apple tree. It was replaced by the one we are more familiar with. To differentiate the silhouette of the apple from a cherry, the “˜bite’ was put in.
“˜Macintosh’ is in fact a variety of apple. It also was the first commercially successful personal computer that resembles the ones we use today. It was the first ones to have a graphical user interfaces (GUI) and mouse instead of command line interfaces.
Apple also made one of the first consumer digital cameras. The Apple QuickTake, launched in 1994 was discontinued in 1997. The camera could shoot and store eight photos at 640×480 resolution, 32 photos at 320×240 resolutions, or a mixture of both sizes.
Apple had a third founder besides Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Ronald Wayne had a 10% stake in the company. He forfeited his share to the new company for a total of $2,300. All three partners worked at Atari before they started Apple. Ronald Wayne drew the first Apple logo, wrote the three men’s
original partnership agreement and wrote the Apple I manual. He has never owned an Apple product.
The flag bearer for Apple Inc, the Macintosh, wasn’t the brainchild of the two Steve’s. Jef Raskin an expert in human-computer interaction started and inspired the Apple Macintosh line. He also coined the name.
There are enough strange interesting facts to fill up entire bookshelves on these three companies.

TEN COMMON
WRITING
MISTAKES
WARNING! If you make these mistakes you will be branded a NOOB!
Here are a few common mistakes which can be avoided while writing:
(1) WHO OR WHICH? – Who refers to persons/people. Which refers to things or animals, never to a person. Example: The boy who was always late. The cat which scratched the couch.
(2) Empty Adverbs – Empty adverbs like actually, totally, absolutely, completely, continually, constantly, continuously, literally, really, unfortunately, ironically, incredibly, hopefully, finally can actually suck the meaning and intention from your words.
(3) Commonly Misspelled Words – All right
Recommend
Dependable
Independent
Responsible
Separate
(4) THERE, THEIR or THEY’RE – There is a possessive form of “they”. They’re is a contraction of they are.
There is used to signify a place, or as an empty word to start a sentence. Example: There are 7 days in a week. They’re hungry after all the exercise. Their answers are satisfactory.
(5) SITE OR SIGHT – Sight refers to your sense of vision. Site refers to a location or place. Example: That was one of my favourite web sites. A romantic sunset is an incredible sight.
(6) The Ellipse – Ellipses are not just random symbols in punctuation. It has specific uses and is always THREE consecutive dots. Only 3! Use an ellipse when there is an intentional omission of words or as a pause in speech or thought. Do not overuse.
(7) Semicolon: What it is? – A semi colon is a part comma and part period. It can function as either a strong comma, or a week period. It should never be used in place of a colon! Example:
The baby appears to be
healthy; however, the fever
continues to rise.
(8) LOOSE OR LOSE? – A very popular mistake! Lose means you have lost something. Loose refers to a certain “fit”. Example:
If your tires are loose, you might lose one when you hit a bump.
(9) The Apostrophe – For the most part there are two reasons to use apostrophe. First is for contraction (Don’t for do not) and second is to show possession (Tom’s blog). If you are in doubt, leave the apostrophe out!
(10) IT’S, ITS or ITS’ – “It’s” is a contraction for it is or it has. The possessive form of it is “its”. “Its’” is never correct and it is an incorrect usage. Example: It’s time to go. Every dog has its day.
Hope these tips would be helpful to you.
