Warm Greetings!

Welcome to our 9th edition of the newsletter. As we begin the next leg of our journey we look forward to much more activities and events. Much has taken place in the academic and sports arena where I am sure all of you have found ‘change’ and change for the better. Each issue of our school newsletter is a milestone that marks our growth, unfolds our imaginations, and gives life to our thoughts and aspirations. teachers and students enjoyed the party with the blue lagoon and finger chips servings.

The students were left awestruck with their agility and smartness. The men

on duty were all clad in their smart

and crisp uniform. They were very

helpful in providing us guidance and

answers to our questions. The

museum is one of its kinds in the

country which draws a lot of tourists from all over the country.

The memorial is made of stone pillar measuring 25ft tall and is worth visiting. Some of its major attractions were the MIG 23 BN which was used in Kargil war and a replica of the INS Trishul which was on display for visitors. The other highlight was the audio visual session where children got to see the great achievements of our armed forces. It was a very informative and thrilling session. After having refreshed ourselves with some snacks and cool drinks we headed towards the Empress Garden. There wasn’t much of flora and fauna probably we visited the garden at the wrong time of the year!! But the loss was made up with a whole lot of play area which had many interesting swings and slides. Children enjoyed themselves a lot and finally we moved to the school

A surprise party was arranged by the

Residence Staff on the 11th of June

which was called “The Chill Party”. A lot of effort was taken by the House Parent and House Masters. The party

came in with a bang on 11th June on a

chilly Saturday after everyone was done filling their tummy with delicious cuisine served by canteen staff. From music to games, to mouth-watering snacks, everything was set in the best possible way.

All the students and teachers had gathered at the Multipurpose Hall around 8 pm and the party had started by 8:30 pm. For the little kids there was balloon bursting race and for the teens and teachers the lemon spoon race not forgetting the all time party favorite “Musical Chairs”. But, as always the party was not over without the feet tapping and the hands swaying in the air. All the

The party went on for hours leaving everyone with a promising smile. The chill party brought in a new positive energy into the hearts of the cathedralites. It was a night to remember.

Thomas and Wilson. The cricket matches were held on a Sunday. The students were enthusiastic and zealous as it was a competition and carried points for their houses.

TOK presentation

All the IBDP2 students were on a

panic fire as 9th June was decided for the final TOK presentations. There was no difference in the anxiety of experienced orators v/s the novices as everyone was venturing into the least known domain of Philosophy.

In TOK presentations the students

discuss the topic from an epistemological perspective but conclude without a conclusion leaving

the topic open ended. The characteristic of a good presentation

is the ability of the presenter to

provide claims and counter-claims both equally convincing.

Though nervous, we all managed to achieve the best possible for us in our respective presentations.

The topics ranged from LGBT rights to Euthanasia. A good number of our teachers attended the presentations including the Principal and Vice Principal. TOK presentations are indisputably the best learning experience in the IB Diploma.

rest and rejuvenation. We were able to reunite in an enthralling week of workshops and orientation.

The workshops were conducted by the Principal, Aninda Chatterji on “Differentiation in learning” and “Critical Thinking”.It spurned the thoughts of all the teachers and created in them a new rigor for learning and teaching. These workshops also helped teachers to teach from a new perspective. At the same time it helped teachers come closer to varied skills that each honed.

Last but not the least the long week ended with the sudden and surprise event of the “Nukkad Natak” where the teachers were given the theme

“India”.

Teachers took this opportunity to showcase their individual talents. They held astounding acts on social and common issues.

It started with the junior category of 4-9 singers with a great start to the night; followed by 10-12 categories.

Further excitement grew when teachers too thronged the stage with their individual performances. It was a night to remember.

Workshop and Orientation Week

On the other hand teachers also benefitted from the IB World on various workshops conducted by the Vice Principal Mr Biju Baby which was informative and innovative. It worked as a guiding tool for most. It also provided new insights into the IB World.

It was no less than a bunch of professionals collating together a common cause and fighting for a common goal. It felt like college days had once again knocked at our doorpost.

On the whole we enjoyed the new innovative and wonderful time that we shared as a team. It also provided us the opportunity to collaborate and work as one in unison and bring about teamwork and team spirit.

It was the most exciting week for all -Diana Hamilton (Faculty - English

Welcome Party

To help students with the transition from a relaxing break to the everyday academic schedule, the staff of CVSL arranged a wholesome evening. The event began at 7:30pm and lasted for an hour. The decorations were arranged with a lot of effort and the ambience looked warmed - up. Everyone was thrilled to meet each other after the holidays. All the children got together to celebrate this reunion. Music and lights created the most exotic ambience and this in turn gave a more welcoming atmosphere. Everyone gathered at the Multipurpose Hall in order to join the celebration.

Senior School Field Trip

A few months ago, students of grade IX and X visited the “Pune Institute of Aviation Technology” and “War Memorial Museum”.

After leaving the school at a merry hour in the morning in two separate buses, the students enjoyed a road trip of an hour or two. During this period of time, we entertained ourselves by listening to music or gazing at the scenic views. Reaching our destination all of us soon filed out of the buses and made files under the scorching sun. An official from the Aviation Technology came out to welcome us. Soon we were sitting in a room and were showed a presentation about the history of planes. The most interesting video, was about the next generation of planes which not only thrilled us but astounded us about the technological future that the world had embarked into. We sat in the pews staring at a presentation about the next generation planes. Soon after, we were lead out of the room and into the yard where two planes were displayed. The officers started the engines and explained the various parts of the plane which made the field trip even more fun. Finally we had to take leave.

After completing our lunch at

Mac Donald’s we headed to the next venue of our field trip. A few of us also watched a 14-minute video clip on the Indian Army which was both inspirational and motivating. The whole trip rekindled feelings of camaraderie for the nation at large. We felt awestruck with the kind of lives the soldiers lead and the lives that were sacrificed to keep our country and people safe.

This day had made all of us tired. On reaching school, we got into our respective bed feeling happy and satisfied.

There were over a hundred members of logistics who were extremely kind and helpful. Twenty students of our school attended the event. On the second day, a social event was hosted in the school itself.

There was live music, karaoke, food and different performances from various volunteers. The theme for the night was ethnic wear. On the third day, Working papers, Draft resolutions, the closing ceremony and finally taking off those heels was what everyone was actually talking about. Lunch was followed by the closing ceremony in which a former Israeli diplomat was invited to speak. He spoke about the importance of time, the UN and every citizen of the world. He ended his speech, quoting a former rock band, “Pink Floyd is my favorite band and as much as I
