Renewed Relationship with God
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the
ailings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let eachf us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.Romans 15:1-2)
Hugh, our newest elder at Renewal, started off the
month with an overview of our last Core Value atRenewal, Biblical Community, by examining
Romans 15:1-7. God used His Word and Hugh to
xhort us to love each other faithfully, bear with one
nother, and experience the beauty and goodness of
Gods gift of the community of believers.
We continued through the rest of June with our
Blueprint: Glimpses of the Gospel series
eginning in Leviticus. Many have commented that
hey are seeing the Old Testament with fresh eyes,
re connecting the Old and New Testament together
or the first time, and are experiencing heart change
s they gratefully worship our God whos beenworking redemption throughout all of history!
he start of Leviticus instructs us in proper worship
f God as we observe how He has prescribed
worship of Himself. Most churches ask, How do
we make God potable to man?, and they yield to
ulture in order to make God appear worthwhile. In
tark contrast, Leviticus, and the rest of Scripture,
sks, How does sinful man become presentable to a
Holy God? During the month of June, weve
xamined Gods answer to the latter question
hrough Leviticus.
Leviticus 1 instructed us that man cannot be
presented to our Holy God except through a
perfect sacrifice where, by faith, the sacrifice
takes our unrighteousness and death, and
righteousness and life are credited to us. Leviticus
2 & 3 reminded us through the grain and peace
offerings that worship flows from a thankful heart
for Gods character and His gracious acts on our
behalf, and can only be offered after the sacrifice
of atonement for our sin. We celebrated through
partaking of the Lords Supper together, andsinging praises to our great God, who atoned for
our sin and gives us peace and reconciliation
through the death of Jesus. Leviticus 4 & 5
instructed us on the nature of unintentional sin.
We were challenged on our view of sin, as we
often think we are better than we actually are.
Leviticus teaches that all sin is exceedingly
sinful, whether we know weve sinned or not, and
all sin has consequences. The Body of Renewal
was encouraged to repent of sin because sin costs
more than we know, but as a result the gospel is
more beautiful than we know.
Renewal is Moving! If you havent heard the big news, Renewal is

Renewed in RelationshipsEveryday they continued to meet together in the templeourts. They broke bread in their homes and ate togetherith glad and sincere hearts. (Acts 2:46)
Coffeehouse Theology
On Thursday mornings at 6:30 am, the men of
Renewal meet at a local coffeehouse in downtown
Greenville to study theology. They are going
hrough the theology textbook by Danny Akin
alled A Theology for the Church. Thus far, they
ave studied topics such as natural and special
evelation, creation and providence, the attributesf God, and human nature. This study hour has
een lead by different men each week in an attempt
o give opportunity for growth and teaching, and
as been tremendously fruitful thus far.
Womens Summer Study
Not to be outdone, this month the women of
Renewal started a summer book study and have
een reading through Nancy Leigh DeMosss
ook, Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets
Them Free. The study meets every Tuesday and
he women have thoroughly enjoyed being
hallenged through this book.
he study digs deep into how the woman of todayrogresses from deception to bondage and the lies
he believes that carry her there. DeMoss does a
antastic job calling sin SIN and challenging
women to truly embrace Truth, the Word of God,
o counteract and liberate them from the bondage
hey are in. Were excited to see how God uses this
ook to change the hearts of our women. Please be
raying for all of the ladies reading through this
tudy that God would do a good work in their
earts towards lasting change and unite them in
elationship with one another.
Renewed Through StudyHugh has begun laying the foundation for adult
Bible study on Sundays around our gathering. This
will give Renewal more in-depth time for the study
of theology and to focus on its importance to our
lives. Jesus said that we are to love the Lord with
all our heart, soul, MIND, & strength (Mark
12:30). In order to love the Lord with our minds
we must learn to think rightly and see the world
through a biblically-informed lens. We will launchthe study in the Fall.
Renewed in Love & Service...And the Lord added to their number daily those whowere being saved. (Acts 2:47)
Community Engagement
As weve told you before, God has blessed us with
the opportunity to build great relationships with thefolks at Mitchell Road Elementary School, and
weve had the opportunity to do several events inpartnership with the school.
Renewal was thrilled to have the help of a mission
team from Mount Hermon Baptist Church in
Danville, Virginia, during the week of June 20th
.About thirty youth and eight adults conducted
Bible clubs at three apartment complexes, building
new relationships with children, youth, and adults.
In the afternoons, the team worked at Mitchell
Road and the surrounding apartment complexes,
doing yard work, cleaning windows, and many
other tasks.
They also handed out 5,000 invitations to our
Movies in the Parking Lot events that will be
held at the school throughout the summer, the first
of which they helped conduct on June 23rd.
Each evening the team would gather at East N
Street to hear a message from one of Renewal
elders, along with a time of worship with our
newly birthed Renewal youth group.
A second mission team, this one from Norco,
Louisiana (First Baptist Norco) came to visit
Renewal and serve our city the first week of Ju
The team conducted two block parties for two
apartment complexes and, as a result, 50 kids
real Gospel presentations.
The managers of these complexes expressed th
desire to have similar events more often and g
us an open invitation to come back any time. T
team did an exceptional job and earned legitim
to continue working there. We plan to continu
growing that relationship in the months ahead
Weve been blessed by these whove come
alongside of us to help spread the Good News
Jesus. As summer continues, thank you for pra
for Renewal and for those who serve with us i
name and for His glory.
