Scripture Reading How To:For better “sponging” of scripture.

1. Find a quite peaceful place with little to no interruptions2. Take a moment to reflect on what your doing (Your about to read, listen, learn, and most

importantly hear the word of God)3. Pray, think of everything God has given you, what he has provided you with. Ask God to open

your heart and mind to His word, so that you may better understand it for His glory.4. Read the word of God, not out of obligation that you think it will make you better. But out of

curiosity, what does God have to tell me today? How can I do what He wants of me?5. Reflect on what you have read, highlight or write down verses that stick out or you may have

questions about. (Questions are added, and answered into next weeks newsletter)6. Pray again thanking God for providing you the opportunity to learn his word. To have free

access to his holy voice. As well any additional you would like to pray for. Remember, pray from the heart not from your mind.

7. God is Good, All the time.

This weeks study is over Exodus Chapter 1-11 Quite a number of things have stood out to me, hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Notes may be incomplete and are written at the time of bible study lesson. Files will be updated as new studies on each chapter are done.

Note (Printed in my bible): “Moses' greatness as God's prophet and the people's preist is demonstrated on nearly every page of this book. Although Moses stammers badly, God uses him and his brother Aaron to speak more clearly and effectively than any prohpet in history. Moses is surely a giant in Israel's history, which may be why tradition ascribes this book – as well as the rest of the Pentateuch (Torah, Genesis through Deuteronomy) – to Moses as author.”

Exodus1:11-19 – Egypt's numbers are growing. The Israelite slaves are beginning to out number the Egyptians. To stop this the slave handlers are ordered to push the slaves harder and in longer days, to the point of exhaustion or worse, death.

This doesn't stop the population ratio, as a result Pharaoh orders Hebrew midwives to play their role by killing any and all male new-born. The midwives show great courage and faith, providing Pharaoh withthe excuse that they were unable to reach the women in time (quite possibly out of fear for their own life) but their actions are also an example of their fear, respect, and devotion to their heavenly God.A common question that could be thrown in here is “Where was God when?” A large and common question today, usually used as an excuse to disprove God. “If God is real why didn't he do something?”. The people are oppressed, crying out for a savior, we see that even though they continue to be under torture and oppression their numbers and strength continue to grow. God has blessed the oppressed Israelite just as he has promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

2:4-9 – Moses's older sister is following along the river to ensure his safely. After the basket is stopped and found by Pharaoh's daughter, his sister steps in to offer assistance. Unknown to Pharaoh daughter Moses own sister and mother are the ones in charge of taking care of and nursing the baby.

3:13-22, 4:1-13 – This section is much longer, its all part of the conversation between God the Father and Moses. God has chosen Moses to lead his people out of Egypt. I have counted 5 times where Moses tries to come up with an excuse why he shouldn't do what God is asking. 3:11, 3:13, 4:1, 4:10. 4:13. Moses is doubting, questioning, possibly even fearing what could happen if he goes back to Egypt. Unfortunately God supplies him with what he will need to do what God is asking rather than saying “Your right Moses, I will go find someone else better qualified.” There is a popular phrase among Christians. “God doesn't call the qualified, he qualifies the called.” There is also a song by Matthew West called “Do Something” which has the line “If not me than who” as a key line in the song. People often think its okay not to do something because someone else will.

God chose you for a reason. He picked you out of all the people in the world to do something for Him. God even tells us not to fear or doubt. Because He will provide and take care of our needs.

So whats holding you back?

Ten PlaguesThese are quite interesting. The first few can actually work together of natural order, River turns to blood > frogs leave the river in search for fresh water but die because they found none in time. The frogdecay attracts gnats, which then grow into flies which could carry disease of their own and kill the livestock, infections could also cause boils on the Egyptians. But what about the rest? The children of God were never harmed, nor did they receive boils. Then you also have hail, Locust which eat up everything remaining. The plague of darkness which leaves Egypt in the dark causing the people to practically be blind. And finally the death of the first born.

Biblical Q&AQuestions coming soon. I hope to have some up for you guys nextweek. Possibly questions based on the study, answered the following week.

As well as general questions anyone may have.

Fun Fact

• Unlike the movies of Moses, he wasn't alone in his trek. Because of his speech problems, his brother Aaron was his spokesmen during his leadership.
