The Hive is Returning to Charlotte After a twelve year sabatical the Hornets will make their debute back in Charlotte for the 2014-2015 NBA season. The city of Charlotte and all the former Charlotte Hornet’s fans are anticipating the return with much joy and satisfication. The Hornet’s opening game on Wednesday, October 29 against the Milwaukee Bucks is bound to be the event of the year. In 1988 the Charlotte Hornets established themselves as an NBA expansion team. Over those years the Hornets sold out most games at their arena nicknamed the “Hive” and had many super star players such as, Alonzo Mourning, Larry Johnson, Del Curry and Mugsy Bogues. They made the game, city and fans electric. The team was moved to New Orleans in 2002 with much dissappointment from Charlotte residents and fans. The Charlotte Bobcats became the city’s new expansion team in 2004 and over their ten year tenure made it to two NBA playoffs, but the Hornets were always missed. Newsletter Front Page

The city of Charlotte and all the former Charlotte Hornet’s fans are anticipating the return with much joy and satisfication. The Hornet’s opening game on Wednesday, October 29 against the Milwaukee Bucks is bound to be the event of the year.

In 1988 the Charlotte Hornets established themselves as an NBA expansion team. Over those years the Hornets sold out most games at their arena nicknamed the “Hive” and had many super star players such as, Alonzo Mourning, Larry Johnson, Del Curry and Mugsy Bogues. They made the game, city and fans electric. The team was moved to New Orleans in 2002 with much dissappointment from Charlotte residents and fans.

The Charlotte Bobcats became the city’s new expansion team in 2004 and over their ten year tenure made it to two NBA playoffs, but the Hornets were always missed.

In 2010, Bobcats owner Michael Jordan begain inquiring the NBA and pursuing getting the Hornet name back to Charlotte. After a lot of hard work from the fans, city and owners, New Orleans announced in 2013 that they would be renaming their team to the Pelicans and Charlotte would become the Hornets once again.

The Hornets name is much more than just a name for Charlotte, it’s a brand and a fresh begining. With young players like Kemba Walker, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Cody Zeller and some experienced new additions such as Lance Stephenson and Al Jefferson, the Hornets have a team that could breakout and be something special.With high hopes and a new excitement, Charlotte plans to bring back the passion, wins and electricity that once echoed throughout the city and the NBA. The “Buzz” is back.
