NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2018
New Holland TD5.100 for “cab” comfort and safety Ian and Leanne Elphick run cattle and sheep at their Carroll and Manilla properties and for some time Ian has been looking to upgrade his tractor to a cab machine. The opportunity came up at the recent Agquip Field days and Ian decided to purchase a New Holland TD5.100 tractor. The tractor has been fitted with a Challenge/New Holland AP35S Plus front end loader with a 4 in 1 bucket and pallet forks. Ian and Leanne also took advantage of CNH Industrial Capital’s finance package to complete the deal. Pictured with the tractor prior to loader fitment is Ian Elphick.
A “sweet” job for a New Holland RB150 Baler Robert and Catherine Collyer of Boggabri have recently taken delivery of a New Holland RB150 Cropcutter Round Baler. Rob has found an opportunity in the coastal region baling sugar cane stubble from frosted crops. The baler started work in the Casino area and Rob is hoping to pick up more work in the area. When the cane is finished Rob will continue baling his own hay and also do some contracting in his local area. Rob and Catherine also took advantage of CNH Industrial Capital’s finance package with a deferred payment option. Pictured at the delivery/installation are Nathan Keel, Goodwin Kenny Hay Technician, with Luke and Rob Collyer.
Making the “battle” easier at Loomberah The move from being graziers to hay producers has put Carole and Lindsay Battle on a steep learning curve of irrigation, crop production and the best machinery to achieve their aim. Acquiring some good used machinery with the farm and already owning a nice Fiat 115-90 tractor gave them a good base so they just needed a Mower Conditioner and Baler to complete the package. They have chosen the New Holland 313 Mower Conditioner with
4 metre cut, Centre pull and Rubber Chevron Conditioning rollers suitable for cutting either side of the tractor giving total flexibility to their operation. The New Holland BC5060 Small Square Baler is the standard for good bale shape and density, equipped with a hydraulic swing, LED lighting kit and integrated hoses and wiring to suit their accumulator making it ready to produce good bales. Pictured with the machines is Lindsay after the installation by Nathan Keel, Goodwin Kenny Hay Technician.

GET YOUR SPRAYING SORTED WITH SILVAN Sprayer Maintenance - Sprayer Check List: 1. Check the condition of hoses on the sprayer, look for damage, kinked or pinched sections, deterioration or loose fittings, all these can lead to downtime, loss of chemical and frustration. 2. Remove and clean all filters 3. Remove, inspect and clean all nozzles, (Tip – an old toothbrush is ideal) rinse them and refit after cleaning the nozzle filters.
Nozzles DO NOT last forever They wear and put out an uneven pattern – 2 years is about the maximum time you will get from a low use boomspray – nozzles can also be worn out and need replacement after just a couple of weeks use depending on the chemical you are using. If you have non drip nozzle bodies you should also remove the cap and inspect the diaphragm, clean and reassemble.
PLEASE take the time to run your sprayer with clean water to make sure everything is correct BEFORE you put chemical into the tank.

Tamworth Kangaroos AFL Presentation Night was held on Saturday 15th September and it was a “formal” affair in the garden at the Tamworth Hotel. This year the Men’s team finished in the top 4 and the Women’s team were the winners in their Grand Final defeating Inverell in their second attempt at a Premiership. Along with the usual awards for Best and Fairest, Highest
Goal Scorer, Best Backman, Player’s Player etc the club acknowledged Daniel Overeem for reaching his 300th game in his 20th year with the club. This year the Roos had a number of social events and following on from that there were some “Best Dressed” Prizes to be awarded, and as a member of the winning Trivia team I was asked to present these awards. It was good to see one of the old Bucks “dressed
up” and Brett Douglas with his lovely wife Bonnie won the Couple award, Adam “Watto” Watson was a somewhat controversial winner of the Best Dressed Male and the Female award went to Nat Deaves who is pictured front and centre holding the cup in the “glam” team photo at right. All the girls looked very glamourous (they scrub up well when not in uniform!), so it was a hard decision. I also presented the Club Person of the Year to Sharon Harris. Sharon is the Communications Officer for the club but she does so much more, like many of the Committee members, and she was very surprised and humble in receiving the award. Go ROOS - looking forward to next year! As the year gets away ...there is lots happening - the Kootingal Art Show is on 12th - 14th October, the Dungowan Village Fair is on
13th - 14th October, the biennial For the Love of Art exhibition at the Tamworth Regional Gallery will have its Opening Night on Friday 2nd November at 6pm(Free Admission) showcasing the talents of the students of Maria Henry. The Tamworth Jockey Club will hold a fabulous day out for Melbourne Cup on Tuesday 6th and on the Art scene the Nundle Art Show will be held from 9th - 11th November.
Goodwin Kenny has also supported the Tamworth Business Chamber and TRC and become involved in the “Think Local, Support Local” campaign - we would love to see one of our customers win the Honda
Jazz and all purchases over $30 until 5th December will get you an entry - so why not purchase some New Holland Toys for Christmas (page 3), Spare Parts, Service work or a new machine!
