We had 8 new admissions and the girls are settling in quiet well and have been oriented. We have 1 HIV positive case and she is on treatment and responding well.

We currently have 21 pregnant girls at the center. We have had 11 mothers this month and 11 healthy babies born. We praise the Lord for their lives. 8 of the new mothers were

discharged and have gone back home where they have been forgiven and accepted. 2 mothers are waiting to be discharged.

One of the young mothers Noeline who was swollen and suffering from preeclampsia because of her pregnancy delivered well and her blood pressure is now normal. Noeline and her baby are doing well.

Zainabu 16, is from a family of 9 siblings where she is the 3rd born. She lost her mother when she was young and her father abandoned them. She grew up with her grandmother, brother and her paternal auntie and she moved from home to home thereafter. Zainabu’s life has been full of challenges due to lack of basic needs in her life and lack of school fees. Due to these challenges, she decided to prostitute herself so she could get money to meet her needs. She also experienced pressure from her friends to own good clothes and fit in their group so this pushed her further into prostitution where she made bad decisions she says.

Zainabu was going to school and dropped out when she was suspended due to misbehavior and owning a cell phone at school which was against the school rules. This phone was shared with her friend so when zainabu was caught with it and suspended from school the friend demanded the share of the money she had contributed to buy the phone. Zainabu had no choice but went to a friend (boy) borrowed money and paid back her friend.

The boy didn’t give her enough time to look for the money and started demanding for it, when Zainabu couldn’t pay back he started demanding for sex, they had sex twice and unfortunately she became pregnant and the boy denied the pregnancy and disappeared. Everyone was upset with her getting pregnant and the environment became unbearable that’s when she was brought to Wakisa ministries for help.

Zainab is at the centre and is looking forward to learning and changing the ways of life she knew before.
