India is at a threshold where skilling is the only way it can utilize its immense youth population to enter the

workforce. Vocational training can aid to bridge employability gap on one hand, while providing effective

employment on the other.

TISS SVE has created an ecosystem for quality skill development and training to facilitate upward mobility and

also support skill up-gradation of existing workforce.

Our Work Integrated Training Programme (WITP) is operating in more than 80 HUB centres PAN INDIA and we are growing at a very

happy to announce that in some of our B.Voc. Programs students have completed the first year of B.Voc. This qualifies them to get a

Diploma certificate. Many other B.Voc. Programs are now ready to be launched and more batches will start in Jan 2016.

has launched the first batch of B.Voc in Sales & Marketing Management under the Work Integrated Training Program

(WITP) .

The students enrolled in this Work Integrated Training Program (WITP) are going through a novel experience - an

experience that they have never heard of or seen before.

NEW SKPS

Apar India changing lives with TISS SVE

Volume 4

TISS-SVE Quarterly Newsletter – Oct 2015 | 6

The students have shared their experiences and have told us that it

is indeed amazing that by doing a course through WITP, we are

getting paid for being taught instead of paying for learning. The

efforts being taken by Apar India to train and groom them have

finally paid off, bringing about a total change in their personality.

Today they have a renewed feeling of self-worth. Special attention

is being given to each and every student by the SKP to help them

perform and learn better.

Apar India organized an Industrial Visit to NSIC to give them

training on Entrepreneurship Development

on 28th August, 2015. It was a one day Workshop held at the

Incubation centre of NSIC. In order to make the students mentally strong to face the corporate world, Apar India

organized a “Mind Power Workshop” which was conducted by Dr. Jitender Adhia, MD, a renowned Mind Trainer of

international repute. They were given insights on “Goal setting and achieving them through mind power.”

The students who have enrolled at Apar India under the B.Voc course of Work Integrated Program feel that “It’s a

golden chance for students to improve and achieve success in life.”

The Social Vertical of SVE has designed and initiated three programmes – B.Voc in Early Child Development (ECD), B.Voc

in Child Protection (CP) and Diploma in Geriatric Care (GC )-- in order to create a cadre of professionally trained workers

with a specific skill set corresponding to their areas of work. These programs are being offered in Guwahati, Kolkata,

Bhubaneshwar, Nagpur, Indore, Bhopal, Mangalore and Bijapur (all 3 programs); Patna and Kolkata (only B.Voc in ECD &

CP); and Calicut, Trivendrum, Bangalore, Belgaum & Anand (only Diploma in GC).

The B.Voc programmes provide opportunities of training to the new entrants and enhance the skill of already employed

workforce for students who have completed Standard 12th or equivalent level of qualification. All the these programs

have been rolled out since July 2015 and seeking fresh admissions from already employed workforce as well as those

who have cleared their supplementary exams. The specifics of each of these are as follows:

CHILDCARE AND GERIATRIC CARE

Volume 4

TISS-SVE Quarterly Newsletter – Oct 2015 | 7

1. B.Voc in Early Child Development: The broad domains where an ECD worker could contribute are education,

protection and welfare, holistic child development, special needs, health, nutrition and entrepreneurship. The

anganwadis run by the ICDS need trained workers. In the non government sector, there are a large number of NGOs and

commercial organizations working at the grass-root level.

2. B.Voc in Child Protection: Provides knowledge, skills and practical experience in the areas of child rights and

protection of childre's rights. The Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) is in the process of being implemented in

different states across the country and needs trained child rights professionals. In the non government sector, there are

a large number of NGOs and commercial organizations working at the grass-root level offering the services in the area of

child rights.

3. Diploma in Geriatric Care: provides training opportunities for caring for older population to already employed

workforce and fresh entrants for those who have completed standard 10th or equivalent level of qualification. Due to

weakening family ties and lage scale migration of people, there is an need to expand the number of trained

professionals, strengthen capacities and 'soft skills', sensitizing younger generation to the issues of ageing and to train

human resource for handling these issues and emerging needs of older persons.

All the above 3 programs meet the requirements of very specialised fields of intervention in the social sector. Since

there is a huge demand for professionally trained people in these specialisations, joining these programs would result in

jobs for several people.
