Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School seeks a part-time
Reference Librarian for its Grand Rapids Campus Library. The successful
candidate will assist law students conducting legal research. Will be
responsible for traditional reference duties and bibliographic instruction.
Teaches various instructional classes, conducts presentations and assists with
instructional support. Requires day, evening, and weekend shifts.
Qualifications: M.L.S. and/or J.D is required. Strong verbal, written, teaching
and organizational skills; proficiency in software applications; service oriented,
self directed, and able to deal with complex decision making. Experience with
legal reference, research sources, and online services preferred.

The Trustees of the Wyandanch Public Library seek a highly motivated professional to manage the daily
operations of the Library. The Board is seeking a candidate who will continue to grow and enhance
library services to the Wyandanch community through the effective management of library staff,
technology, and resources. The Wyandanch Public Library is a suburban library located in Suffolk County,
Long Island, New York, which serves a diverse population of approximately 12,000 residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS JOB
Under the general direction of the Board of Library Trustees, an employee in this class administers a
public library. The incumbent exercises direct or indirect supervision over all library employees, and
oversees all library functions and activities, subject to the policies, standards and objectives determined
by the Board of Trustees. The employee utilizes a high degree of initiative and independent judgment in
the performance of these duties. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a New York State Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate, and four (4) years of
experience in a public library as a professional librarian (professional experience is defined as experience
gained after being awarded a Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS), or a Master of Science in
Information Science (MSIS) or a New York State Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate); at least three
(3) years of this experience must have been at the level of Librarian II or higher; or a satisfactory
equivalent encompassing service as a library department head or head of a small branch. The salary will
be based on relevant experience.
The Library Director position is a provisional appointment the salary will be based on relevant
experience.

Part-Time Outreach Services Para-Professional DATE: September 7, 2017 POSITION: Outreach Services Para-Professional (.5 FTE, 20 hours per week) NATURE OF WORK: Para-professional duties as assigned by Head of Outreach Services. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
Supports delivery of reference, information and reader’s advisory services for library patrons of all ages.
Assists patrons in use of computers and other library technology.
Participates in storytimes, library program planning, and special projects as assigned.
Assists with collection development projects.
Performs circulation duties.
Represents YDL at community events by distributing information and speaking about the Library.
Contributes to the smooth operation of the Bookmobile and YDL – Superior Township. QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree. Public library experience preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong commitment to public service excellence.
Ability to function in a professional manner, work independently, and use good judgment.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Hourly wage starting at $14.36. Pro-rated paid time off and paid holidays. Employer paid retirement contribution after one year of service. This position is part of the AFSCME union bargaining unit.

Perform clerical and technical duties that require a practical knowledge of library operations in order to support the college’s library center. The employee is expected to work in a multi-cultural diverse working environment.
1. Provide circulation, interlibrary loan, and reserve desk services to on-campus and remote users. Assist students and faculty in locating library materials and provide assistance for use of systems and equipment (e.g. courseware, online interlibrary loan, DVD, video players, scanners, photocopiers). Make appropriate referrals and collect fines as needed.2. Input and update online circulation, reserve, and interlibrary loan records following a standard format.3. Verify interlibrary loan requests and locate local holding libraries. Maintain accurate files and statistics.4. Maintain loose-leaf services. Collect, prepare and process library materials for the bindery. Review damaged library materials and handle basic repairs.5. Check-in serials in all formats on the integrated library system (ILS). Generate claim reports. Generate reports and circulation notices from the ILS and auxiliary applications and distribute as needed.6. Prepare and maintain library materials for correct shelving order, circulation and resolve shelving conflicts and errors. Assist with inventory projects.7. Provide clerical support as needed for the Library, including ordering supplies and library materials, reporting and tracking equipment problems, and scheduling and billing for library services.8. Order supplies and equipment with appropriate approval.9. Operate office equipment, e.g. photocopier, calculator, telephone, computer, and any other equipment utilized by the college. Maintain and clean equipment.10. Train and direct college student personnel with appropriate approval.11. Perform related tasks as assigned.
