Newsletter for 7th December 2016
STAFFING FOR 2017
At this time, there are still some decisions being made around staffing for 2017. As you are aware,
Mrs Rees and Miss Shields are leaving us at the end of the year. Their experience and dedication to
our school will be sorely missed and we wish them well in their future endeavours! Miss
Gulliford will also be moving to a new environment. Their positions will be covered by existing staff,
as we will not be able to create as many classes in the coming year.
Mrs Eddie will be returning to the school as principal, with the completion of her secondment as an
Instructional Leader. Mrs Hopcroft will resume her role as Assistant Principal.
Mrs Shields will be working across the Sunraysia schools, supporting the changes to the administra-
tive system that is a part of a state-wide program. This means that Mrs Canning, Sarah Christian,
Fiona Cullinan and Kasey Pohlner will be fulfilling administrative roles across the schools, as we try
to train as many as possible in the new system.
Current arrangements for classes will be:
K/1 - Ms Byrnes 1 / 2 - Miss Pomroy
2 /3 - Miss Suckling 3 / 4 - Miss Fernandez
Year 5 - Miss Marziano Year 6 - Mrs Halls
Please note that there may still be changes to these classes, depending upon district staffing that
remains to be filled.
Mr Gray, Mrs Farley, Mrs Garraway, Mrs Larwood, Mrs Gebert and Mr Robinson will remain with us
in their various roles, providing support, release-from-face-to-face, kitchen garden program, music,
learning support, reading recovery and library.
The Instructional Leader position for the school remains to be filled, with a decision likely to be
made before the end of the school year.
We are looking forward to an exciting year, as we manage the large number of system changes
currently being implemented across the education sector in New South Wales!
As soon as we know more definite information regarding staffing we will let you know.
Cathy Eddie

K/1 B NEWS
Hello everyone! Our final weeks of the school year have been busier than ever! A big thank you to the
P&C for organising yet another fantastic meal deal! It was great to see so many students supporting
our school fundraising initiatives.
This Thursday we have our annual presentation evening at the tennis club. As all students need to be
in their uniform on the night, students are able to wear casual dress to school on this day.
A few reminders:
This Thursday will be the last day to swap readers. We will collect these the following Thursday
(week 10).
All library books were due this Monday. We still have many books out on loan and it would be
fantastic to see all of these returned as soon as possible. Miss Gulliford has a list of students
with overdue books so please see her if concerned.
To celebrate our time together in K/1, we will be having a class party next Thursday. We hope to have
a few snacks and a bit of dancing and singing to celebrate the great times we have had this year. As
this is our last newsletter item, we both wanted to extend a huge thank you to everyone who was a
part of this amazing year. To all students, parents, carers, teachers and helpers, you have all
contributed to make the K/1 class such a special group to be a part of.

YEAR 1/2S NEWS
Well it’s hard to believe we are coming to the end of another school year. The children are
exhausted and are ready for the long summer break coming up at the end of next week. As you
already know I will be moving on at the end of this year. It is time for a change and I will not be
teaching at Wentworth Public School next year. I have chosen to do a few months travelling overseas
and then I will be around all the schools doing some casual teaching. Later on next year I may call
into Wentworth Public when needed and say hello. I would really like to say a big thank you to the
amazing team at Wentworth; all the teachers, parents and the community. Your amazing support this
year and over my time at Wentworth Public has been fantastic. I have really enjoyed teaching your
children and learning a lot about myself along the way. I will be taking with me a lot of amazing
memories.
Don’t forget that 1/2S is having a class party tomorrow to celebrate achieving 400 certificates on
our rewards chart. If the children could please bring along a plate of food it would be greatly
appreciated. I will be providing the drinks and party games. Lots of prizes to be won!
I hope you are all coming along to the school presentation tomorrow night at the Wentworth Tennis
Club rooms. Children need to be seated ready at 6.45pm for a 7pm start. It should be a fantastic
night!
A few reminders: All library books and readers need to be returned this week. Please give your house
a good thorough search to check if you have any outstanding books
* All art smocks and school hats will be sent home this Friday. Your child will be responsible
for their school hat next week.
* The end of year Fun Day is being held next Wednesday 14th December. Further information
is located in the newsletter.
* Reports are going home next Wednesday.
Merry Christmas everyone and have a safe holiday!

MRS HALLS’ CLASS NEWS
This is my final newsletter item for 2016. It has been a wonderful year and I look forward to
catching up with you at presentation night tomorrow night.
Last week students were sent home overdue book notices from the library. Please ensure students
have a good look at home for any library books they may need to return. The following is a run-down
of activities that lead to the end of the year.
Presentation night is Thursday 8th of December and commences at 7pm, however students need
to arrive at 6.45 to be seated in to for the night to begin. All students must wear full school
uniform.
Year 6 relax day will be Tuesday the 13th of December. We are going yabbying at the golf club,
having takeaway for lunch and then watching a G or PG movie. Students may wear casual dress
for this day, however please ensure the clothes are sun smart.
Year 6 dinner will be held Tuesday the 13th of December in the evening. Formal dress code is in
place. The dinner commences at 5.45pm. During the Year 6 Farewell Dinner, the Year 6 students
are required to give a speech. These speeches will commence at around 6.45pm no earlier. Par-
ents/Carers are allowed to watch these speeches from the back of the room. I would like to ask
though that if anyone intends to do this could they please adhere to the same dress code as the
students. It would be unfair to have a decorated room with well dressed students and staff and
families walk in with casual clothes. Please contact me if you have any concerns about this re-
quest.
Wednesday 14th of December Fun day for the whole school and reports go home.
Friday 16th of December is the final day of school for 2016.
It is very important at this point of the year for us to remind Year 6 students to ensure they are
finishing the term strongly, following school values and maintaining their reputation as good leaders.
Have a great end of term and a safe and Merry Christmas.
