Value of the Week
We will be studying the value, Generosity, when we return from the holidays. Generous people share their things without expecting anything in return. The Emerson community is currently involved in collecting plastic bottle tops from milk bottles and soft drink bottles. These tops will be recycled and made into plastic prosthetic hands for children in need, living in under-serviced countries. Ms Cowley and her students in SSL will coordinate the collection.
To finish off the week of Happiness— I wish everyone a very Happy and Safe holiday and I look forward to catching up with you all on Monday 7th October.

EMERSON SCHOOL SPORTS REPORT CRICKET T20 BLAST
On Friday 13th September 10 Senior School students took part in a day of cricket. These students showed enjoyment as they participated in a day of activities along with a couple of matches. The 10 students that were lucky enough to participate were Steph C (SSS), Ben A (SSS), Patrick M (SSS), Leon H (SSS), Luka D (SSS), Javan S (SSS), Connor R (SSA), William L (SSA), Ali A (SSA) and Emmanuel O (SSA). The students had fun playing against other schools which included Montague and Officer. During these matches they all had the opportunity in displaying some great batting skills. After all students had batted they took to the field with consistent bowling and some awesome fielding. The day became a good warmup for next terms interschool sports which includes cricket. Last week a group of Middle and Senior students
combined for an Advance Emerson Snow Camp.
Students travelled to Mt Buller where they stayed
on the mountain for three days. For a number of
students it was the first time they had seen snow or
put on a pair of skis. After getting the basics down
and gaining in confidence they ventured higher
onto the mountain (with the instructors) for some
steeper runs. Well done to all the students involved,
you were a fantastic group who showed wonderful
determination and perseverance on the snow.
Thank you to Mr Parker and Mr Peduto for all your
help on camp.

ADVANCE EXCURSION BUBBLE SOCCER & ARCHERY
What a fantastic time the students in the Advance program had last Tuesday at Eastern Indoor Sports Centre. The group of 7 Senior School students and 7 Middle School students played Bubble Soccer and Archery Tag. Whilst playing Bubble Soccer the students seemed more interested in running into each other and bouncing off than concentrating on where the ball was and kicking goals. Hunter I (MSL) reported excitedly, “It was great fun kicking the ball, falling over, and doing flips in the Bubble.” The students also enthusiastically played Archery Tag and demonstrated great skills learning archery maneuvers. Omar A (MSJ) reported, “I really enjoyed learning how to hold, aim and shoot the bow and arrow. The game was good, Senior Students cheated, but it was still good.”

On Tuesday 31 students from across the Senior School were lucky enough to visit HMAS Cerberus on the Mornington Peninsula as part of the Vocational Pathways program. The Navy bus picked us up from school at 8am so that we could have a full day at the navy’s training facility. The students got to meet with many of the Navy personnel and learnt about careers and training in the navy. Some of the demonstrations and tours that we experienced throughout the day were:
Tour of ADF Physical Training Instructor School / Sports and Recreational Facility Tour of School of Survivability and Ships Safety Lunch at the Junior Sailors Galley Tour Seamanship School (Boatswains Faculty) Tour of Marine Engineering Demonstration Building Weapons Demonstration Missile Demonstration
All the students thoroughly enjoyed the day with lots of talk of students now wanting to pursue a career in the Defence Forces. Amanda Eames Vocational Pathways/VET Coordinator

Legoland Excursion
On Wednesday September 18, JSG went to the Legoland Discovery Centre at Chadstone. The excursion was a capstone for the unit of science and technology the students have been studying this term. Students conducted an experiment using spinning tops and constructed their own car to test out on different ramps. Thank you to Mr Gould for driving the bus. A great day was had by all!
