Rainbow Rewards Day—Term 3
Congratulations to the 113 students that are eligible
to participate in the Rainbow Rewards today. The
“Harry Potter” theme is a new concept devised by
the students and again showcases the impact of
student voice in our school. The main attraction will
be the games of Quidditch, complete with broom
sticks and of course the Golden Snitch. Please
check out our Facebook page to see more.
Year 12 Presentation Ceremony
This ceremony is on tomorrow morning in the MPC,
starting at 10am. Parents and guests are then
invited for morning tea in the PWS as well as the
Yr. 12 Muck Up assembly starting at 11:20am
R U OK Day
Congratulations to all involved in the RUOK day last
Thursday. Whilst being a fun occasion it did
highlight the seriousness of mental health and the
need to talk about it. Thanks to Leanne Carswell
and the local BATYR Chapter for organising the
day and many thanks to ex student, Adam Maidens
from airPIX HD for his aerial shots. They looked
awesome!
NAIDOC Day
The theme of this years NAIDOC Celebration was
– We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect
and Celebrate – highlighting Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander peoples’ strong spiritual and cultural
connection to the land and sea. Students and staff
were treated to a BBQ and music, then an
afternoon of fun activities such as dancing, sand
art, food, poetry and language activities. Well done
to Brenda Harvey and Andrew Coffey for their
organisation.
Busy Term Ends - Holidays Begin
As usual Term 3 has been very hectic. The term
was full of activities such as those mentioned
above, numerous sporting and cultural excursions
as well as staff attendance at many professional
learning events. These of course being add-on’s to
the everyday core “teaching and learning” activities
that we participate in daily.
Thank you to our entire school community for your
efforts this term. You have worked tirelessly and
fully deserve a rest.
I wish everyone a relaxing holiday. Take the time to
recharge your batteries as Term 4 will be business
as usual. Term 4 starts on Tuesday 6th October.
Be good, be safe!
Last Thursday, the Cobar High School Batyr
Chapter led the school in RUOK day
activities. This included a ‘human sign’ of
the RUOK on the oval (which has over 12000 likes on social
media) followed by BBA/Café in the top quad to promote talking
& listening to each other & checking ‘R U Ok?’ The special treat
of the day were the cupcakes-when you bite into them, you were
presented with colours of the rainbow to brighten your day! A
special Thank you to Ms Muldoon and her safe staff for
providing drinks and to everyone involved. It was awesome!

State Athletics
1st Place
Cobar High School would like to congratulate Hannah Carroll on her 1st
Place in Discus at the State Athletics Meet .
Hannah travelled to Sydney with her Mum to compete in the Discus and
Shot-put Events last Month.
In the Discus her first two throws were fouls, she spoke to her Mum after
the second throw and her Mum advised her to regroup, to lay down and
relax. This obviously worked as she then threw the winning throw beating
2nd place of 28.54m. Hannah’s winning throw was 35.42m.
In the Shot-put Hannah made it into the final 8 athletes, she threw 9.66m
which put her in 3rd place until knocked back into 4th place with another student throwing 9.77m.
Hannah will represent Cobar High School and New South Wales State Schools in the All Schools
Championships which will be held in Sydney next Term.
Well done Hannah.
